The temperature has to be lower than the room temperature it's in. Most thermostats are set to 76 degrees or lower.

Hoses for proper connection should have been included with your purchase. Without the hoses the set-up can not be done satisfactory. One is for fresh air supply and the other is the hot air exit hose. These are normally vented out a window. Check with the dealer where you perchased the unit from. If from a private individual contact them.

It could well be low on refrigerant, as well as a multitude of other possibilities. I'd have it serviced by a pro.

Read instructions and see if it says anything about cleaning or filters. A.C units **** air in and there is a filter that probably needs cleaned.Also,while cooling, the vent to the outside should put out warm air. Also, if it is less than a year old, contact the manufacturer and they should help you out. Good luck.
