Check for the switching pulse at the coil input terminal. It should be less than the battery voltage but not zero, or pulsing in sync with the engine (if you know the spark dwell angle, you can calculate the voltage by multiplying it by the number of cylinders, dividing by 360 degrees, then multiplying by the battery voltage). If you don't get any indication that the coil is being switched to ground to generate the spark, your distributor contact (for mechanical ignition switches) , magneto or electronic ignition module could be the problem. Before changing whatever one of these you have, double-check the wiring to the coil - a misplaced, broken or loose wire will have the same effect.

Getting a rapid misfire in cylinder 5 changed spark plugs ,cleared the code came back on the day later ???

Hi Jason, Sounds like you have a coil pack and one of your coils is faulty. To check which coil is faulty just pull a spark plug lead off a spark plug and plug the spark plug lead onto a SPARE spark plug, Now earth it to the CLEAN motor or body (make sure the spark plug is touching metal) Start the motor, it's going to run ROUGHER than usual but you'll see if that spark plug is sparking... If it sparks then that coil is good. Turn the motor off and replace the spark plug lead back on to the original spark plug. Repeat with the next spark plug lead and so on until you start your car and the spark plug doesn't spark, THAT'S YOUR FAULTY COIL...

How to check if the spark comes out from idividual goils on egine qr 20 ?

You need 2 people for this task:
Remove the coil from the cylinder but leave it plugged in. The spark plug should be attached to the end of the coil as if it were still in the engine.
Next, position the coil/plug assembly so that the side of the spark plug (Not the hooked end) is touching the metal frame of the engine or chassis. This completes the circuit will allow the spark to ignite.

Now start the engine but DO NOT touch the plug/coil/wire else you will regret it instantly. Look closely at the end of the sparkplug. If the coil is working, you will see a spark. If you dont, try a brand new spark plug. If it still does not work, replace the coil.

When you replace the coil, replace the plug as well in addition to all wires.

Recently purchase a non running 03' 883cc. with 10k. miles, I change plugs, wires, ign. coil, cleaned the carb. replace all fuses, main fuse, starter relay, new battery fully charged, checked all wires...

What the VOS does is controls spark advance, it will NOT cause the spark plug to not fire.

You said no spark.
I assume at spark plug?

Did you check for fire at coil?
When you replaced coil, did you wire it correctly?
Did you use the right coil? Different Harleys require different Ohm coils.

If all above is good, follow wiring back to find why no fire.

Car stop running just cut off.could it be the starter.

No the starter has nothing to do with your car staying running you should check fuel issues fuel pump injectors regulators. Also most likely check ignition components spark plugs spark plug wires distributor cap and rotor or coil if equipped either or and check coil pick up sits underneth coil packs i would go to advanced auto parts and they can check coil pick up and coils or you can by pulling out spark plug and putting it back in wire set spark plug next to engine block if you see blue spark coil is good if orange bad not hot enough to ignite gasoline. is your check engine light on if so get codes read for free at autozone or advanced auto could also be crankshaft postion sensor or camshaft postion sensor lmk if it helps. if it helps please leave 4 star reviw and good comment thanks

How do i change the spark plugs on a 2003 kia rio

INSPECTION

1. Disconnect high-tension code from spark plug.
2. Remove the spark plug.
3. Connect the spark plug to a high tension code.
4. Hold the spark plug with insulated pliers 5~10mm from a ground.
5. Crank the engine and verify that there is a strong blue spark.
If there is no spark, inspect the following points.

Step Inspection Action

1 Check for good connection of ignition coil Yes Go to next stop.
No Repair or replace
2 Check if resistance of high-tension leads are OK Yes Go to next step.
No Replace
3 Check if the ignition coil is electrically charged
1) Ignition switch "ON"
2) Check if the engine coil (+) is electrically charged
Yes Go to next step
No Check the wire harness between ignition switch ignition coil and ECM
4 Check if resistance of ignition coil is OK
Resistance
Primary : 0.36~0.44Ω (at 68°F (20°C))
Secondary : 10.9~13.3kΩ (at 68°F (20°C)) Yes Go to next step
No Replace
5 Check if ECM is OK Yes
No Replace

REMOVAL

Do not attempt any maintenance on spark plug if engine is hot.
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Carefully remove high-tension leads.
3. Use compressed air to blow any dirt or debris from around spark plug hole.
4. Check that spark plug fits squarely in spark plug socket and remove spark plug.

Raise a vehicle and install SST(OK552 131 001) in order to replace cylinder 2, 4, 6 spark plug.

INSTALLATION

1. Install spark plug into cylinder head.

Tightening torque : 18~22lb-ft (25~30N·m, 2.5~3.0kg-m)

2. Reconnect high-tension leads.
3. Reconnect negative battery cable.

Replace spark plugs 2004 dodge intrepid

Changing Spark Plugs

First off, on this model you don't have plug wires, you have coil packs with a boot and coil connected to the pack. The boot slides on the tops of the spark plug. The good thing about this is that you don't have to mark each wire to its location.

So to replace the plugs you need to disconnect the electrical connector to the coil pack and then unbolt the two bolts that mount the pack down, then remove the pack.

Next with a ratchet, an extension and a special spark plug socket, which has an insulator inside to protect the porcelain from getting cracked, remove the spark plugs.

Next step is to replace the plug, usually I slide off the boot from the coil pack and then remove the coil from inside the boot and slide the boot over the spark plug and start to thread the plug back in. Using this method allows to you feel if you are threading the plug in right. Then with a torque wrench you would torque the spark plug to the specs for the type of engine you have.

3.2/3.5L Engine (20 ft-lbs)
2.7L Engine (13 ft-lbs)

Next reinstall the coil pack with the two mounting bolts, it is only necessary to hand tigthen the two bolts. Then plug back in the electrical connector and continue this process on the next 5 spark plugs.

Changing Dome Light

To remove the map light bulbs you need to first remove the overhead console.

To do this you need to remove the screw at the front of the overhead console (which is more towards the front windshield).

Next you need to pry down on the rear of the overhead console and then disconnect the electrical connectors.

Then, with the overhead console pulled down, pull of the map light bulbholders and replace the bulbs.

Installation is the reverse of the removal process.

1995 buick... steadily misses..

Just went through the same thing - change out the coil packs, one at a time. Coil packs run $30 - 50.
