Try these resets,
connect the printer to the wall jack without the surge protector.
now while the printer is on unplug the power cable from the back of the printer and the walljack after 10 seconds connect the power cord to the wall jack and then to the printer.

doesnt resolve

Disconnect the power cable from the printer and the wall jack and wait for 20 seconds then while reconnecting hold down the power button and reconnect the walljack cord and then the printer.

doesn't resolve

do the above but this time pressing the #3 buttons and once its connected you can release the buttons.

does not resolve

try the above holding down the #6 buttons and once the cord is connected then only let go of the buttons.

does not resolve

do the same by pressing #9 and once the cord is connected then only let go of the buttons,

if all fails then call in to hp and see if they have an upgrade for your printer where you will get not less than a 50% discount on the upgrade printer.
Cauz its a hardware problem with the printer, call in at 1800-474-6836.

Printer problem

That could be a signal of a problem. Reset the printer and make sure you get an OK light (usually solid green)

is the printer connected directly to the PC or is it a network printer?
