Light on reads control panel locked - how do I unlock it?

I just had a light pop red that disables all the other buttons. I've treied umplugging. emptying the machine. spinning the tub by hand opening and closing the doors and the soap dispencer drawer a bunch of times in case they did not engage the buttons inside. I can't find my manual. Nothing online seems to help. Does anyone here know how to unlock, the lock control panel button?

This advise is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet front loader washers and dryers with a Control Lock problem.

This may or may not be an indication of a serious problem. In the majority of the cases, this is a simple operator error. Nearly all these model appliances have some sort of Control Lock feature on the front panel now. This is a designed safety feature that is used to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. The controls can be easily locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the following button on the front panel:

Whirlpool Duet Washer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Dryer - Press and hold the AUTO DRY LEVEL button for 3 seconds.

These instructions may not be all inclusive for all Kenmore and Whirlpool models, but they are the most common. Chances are, if you have a Control Lock feature, the instructions will be printed on the front panel adjacent to the button that is required to lock or unlock the controls.

NOTE: These instructions may also work for newer model Maytag, Hotpoint, Admiral and Fridgidaire model front loaders as well. Refer to your owner's manual or front panel for instructions pertaining to your sepcific model.

If the Control Lock feature will not lock or unlock the appliance, unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes is recommended in order to reset the main control board. In many cases this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches.

I have a red light control locked

There should be a button or combination of buttons that must be held down to 'lock' and 'unlock' the control panel- it is usually printed directly under the required buttons to be pressed... If all else fails: read the instructions.

Control lock lit, no other buttons work

Instructions
    • 1 Press any of the buttons on the control panel to see if the buttons are operational or check to see if the "Control Locked" indicator light is lit. If the control panel is operational, you may mistakenly lock the door.
    • 2 Press and hold the "End of Cycle Signal" button for approximately three seconds until the "Control Locked" indicator light shuts off. The control panel is now unlocked, and the washer is ready for use.

    • 3 Lock the washer again by pressing and holding the "End of Cycle Signal" button until the "Control Locked" indicator light turns on.

The washer indicates with a red light that the controls are locked I have pulled the elec. plug from the wall for 15 min. replugged the cord and the light is still on and the controls will not engage.

If you are referring to the Control Lock on a Whirlpool Duet, Kenmore Elite, or Maytag Epic series front loader, this is built-in a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.

The following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more significant problem other than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue).
NOTE: Each one of these washers come with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front feet of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it to troubleshoot if you cannot get the control panel to unlock.

Read through the information provided and if you have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

My Kenmore washer has a "control locked" light on and I can't unlock it. How do I disable this function?

The wireless wan in my aspire 6930 no longer function, what can i do to fix it?

Make sure the drivers for the wireless card are installed and also that the wireless switch is turned on.

Those are the two main things to check, are you able to look for networks or is the wireless completely unavailable?

If its completely unavailable it might be disabled or the drivers are missing. to check this, right click on your my computer or computer, which you will find from either your desktop or from start menu.

Select Manage.

On the computer management window on the left side click on device manager, look for any devices with a RED X or a yellow ? mark.

Also look under the network adapters, what do you see there?

Control lock stays on and nothing else works on the panel. No other lights, no other controls. Disconnected power overnite but nothing changed.

The sound button is the button that you wish the sound to go on when the load is finished drying. Thanks for the advice, I was worried I just bought them and already broken.
