Have a hitachi 50hda39 plasma tv it won't turn on ,pwr lite turns green but the usuall click that we use to hear doesn't happen any more and the tv just blinks rapidly to a white screen.

I would open back and check all boards for cracks, this is a problem with these sets.Then count the blinks on the set and see if it stops for a moment and starts back.

Please contact the authrized service center for Hitachi. Sounds like corrupted firmware. Firmware update is necessary, and the firmware to Hitachi is very difficult to get by internet. Was watching my 50HDA39 Hitachi tv when the sound went, tried everything , what do you suggest ?

Two simple things:

See in menu if for some reason the set has the speakers switched to off or external.

Also see if you have sound when connected to a rear audio/video input with a DVD etc.

Watching TV and all of a sudden a loud pop came from the back of the set. Doesn't turn back on after unplugging.

Check its power supply regulator board. The pop sound you heard may be due to an explosion to any electrolytic capcitors on it. If the line voltage exceeds, this fault will happen. just repalce the damaged component. It is best to replace this board as card basis.

If the set doesn't power ON, what is the use with a remote control? If it power ON properly, the power indicator light at its front panel will light up. Look for this. If it doesn't, make sure that you have got a set which has to be repaired. If it does power up, just get a remote control to operate it. OK.

Hitachi model 50UX22B turning off on its own

The TV is in shutdown. The red LED is the shutdown indicator. Check fuse E994. If its open, the TV will need the deflection P.C.B. replaced. Its probably not worth the repair costs. These sets also have had problems with the voltage regulator circuit, requiring replacement of the regulator IC at a more reasonable cost.
