It sounds like you have an aphid problem, common for roses. You have many pesticide options including granules that you sprinkle into the soil before watering and sprays. If you would like organic options, insecticidal soaps are available to purchase, however, they are very simple to make and home recipes abound. You could try this one:

Prune away the infected leaves and infected stems. Also, rake up all the fallen leaves under the plant. Throw the infected debris away, rather than putting it on your compost pile.Once the infected leaves and stems have been removed, treat your rose with a fungicide. Can I prune rose bushes in early spring?

Hello, Susan -

Yes, depending upon the type of rose bush. This article on pruning roses from the University of Illinois Extension, covers the topic well, I think:

My forever roses were beautiful but this spring I noticed black spot o the stems and fluffy leaves and flowers

Fungal disease forms black spots all over the foliage of rose bushes.

Remove as much of the affected plant as possible then treat it with a fungicidal spray.

Repeat the treatment every ten days until the disease has been eradicated..

What causes rose leaves to turn yellow?

If you're asking about something to do with a sewing machine, I'm not going to be helpful, but if you're asking about rose bushes, then read on.
Yellow leaves can be caused by the soil pH being too far off what roses like. Slightly acidic is what they want. Alkaline is typical of many locations where roses don't do well.
Iron deficiency is another reason for yellow leaves. Often caused by alkaline soil.
