When I go to the menu and try to select the HDTV setup button the screen goes blank and the TV will not respond to anything and I have to turn it off. Regular analog program works fine. All other inputs work fine.

I was having same problem, and think I got lucky and found fix.
Try unplugging the TV and waiting 30 seconds, then plug back in.
You will likely get blue screen with "No Signal".
Go to Menu, then scroll down to "Setup". Select "Factory Reset" then hit "Yes."
This did it for me. Wish you all luck.

for the remote change battery or get new remote, For the TV make sure that your cable is plugged in properly and not half out. or has it previously been wet. Reason because it sounds like your TV has had a static charge.

There is no such thing as a 'digital antenna;' any antenna with sufficient gain and bandwidth will receive whatever signals there are available.
You may have to change the input source via your set's menu so it is looking at the antenna input; it may be set to cable currently.
