I am sorry to bother you, but almost all of the downloaded drivers are "ZIPPED" and unless you UNZIP them your computer can't read them. Perhaps we can make things easier. Please go to our management and ask them to help you. They download you whatever drivers you need UNZIPPED. But, please, don't go to them with an SMS text message from a cellular. They will need to know (1) The Manufacturer's Name and the Trade name of the Computer; (2) The Model Name and Number; (3) The identification number of *********** board. If you can't find it we will help you do that. CONSTANTIN (arzconst)

I would try the realtek audio driver instead. there are two different audio drivers for that board. Here is the link:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

select the socket 775 then look for the p5kpl board then look in the audio section and select the realtek driver

Realtek AC'97 Driver Problems

Well,
This is the last piece of solution I can give you, in case you already knew it, please ignore.

Your motherboard has a 6-channel non-HD audio, consequently you might have probably downloaded drivers meant for 2 or 4 channel or HD ones.

The appropriate driver for your motherboard is
Realtek ALC650
you can download it here:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/REALTEK/ALC650-v349-02092003-Win-98-ME-2k-XP.shtml
Since it is just 6MB , I suggest you give it a try as a last option.
Hope it help !
