Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand the compressor to your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAM187S2A, runs all the time. I also see that no matter what option you put in on, including "OFF", the compressor will stay on, unless you unplug the appliance. There could be a couple different possibilities with this occurring. It could possibly be the switch behind the control board. It could possibly be the control board. It could possibly be something completely separate that is causing the compressor to stay on when you plug your air conditioner in. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine the exact cause. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

SOURCE: cooling has stopped

Apparently the freon has escaped or the metering device for the freon is plugged up. Either way, it's expensive. Check your warranty for "sealed system" repairs.

SOURCE: constant noise when compressor running

most likely there is something touching the body so try to lift the back side and if noise goes away put a block of wood under the unit

SOURCE: I turn off the a/c

The Master ON/OFF Switch either needs cleaning or replacing. I'd try cleaning it first with electrical contact cleaner. Be sure the ON/Off Switch is in the OFF position, before you unplug the unit, to take the face off to clean the switch & it's contacts.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

SOURCE: Unit starts and cools, when thermostat cycles it

If what you are stating is true the only possibility is that the compressor only starts when it is cold, once it has run for a cycle it can't start. Verify it is getting power on trying to start for 2nd time if so try a hard start kit

Dometic rm7732 not cooling

Hi,

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.

First, answer these questions:

  • Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.”

  • Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.

Next, see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor

Intermittent colling in Samsung Window AC

so your reported figures show that the unit is operating as planned
the closer to ambient temp the shorter it runs for
the further away from ambient temp the longer it runs for
when the desired temp is reached , the compressor will stop but the fan will continue to run to circulate air past the thermostat so that it will switch back on when the room temp reaches too high temp
and that is why it is recommended to set the temp at 25 C as that is the most economical temp to run it at

A/c runs cool for about 20 minutes and then does not cool anymore. keeps running but does not cool.

Is the compressor still running or has it kicked out? The normal problem is that the unit is low on freon and the compressor is not cooling because of this. If the compressor is kicking off an feels hot to the touch but the inside coil is sweating when the compressor kicked off the compressor is going bad. On an outside chance the thermostat can be going out if you turn it to off or all the way down you should hear an audible click and again when you turn it up normally its good if the click is audible. good luck

My Danby DPAC90061 cools but does not deshumidify. How can I fix it? First year, I had to empty the tank. Last year, there was no water buildup.

Hi,
It sounds like you may have a very small refrigerant leak and the unit is not even cooling like it should, but is still colling enough to keep you cool in the room...does it seem like it runs more then it used too...??? the compressor that is, not the fan...

My AC NO COLLING

if your sayin the unit isnt cooling then you need to see if it blows any air at all if so and its just warm or regular air then fist check your run capacitor to see if thats bad and at the same time put your hand on the top of compressor to see if thats running it should feel like a humm if not running copressor is probably bad if it is running then most likely its low on freon and if thats the case you have a freon leak some where in system and the new freon laws these days are requiring the a/c company to find and fix leak before adding freon .some companies will just fill it and the same problem will accur soon again.send back more info ,like is unit blowin air is compressor running and i can pinpoint problem easier thanks and let me know the outcome

Kenmore AC compressor on and off while outside unit fan running

If the out door fan keeps running and the compressor cycles off that would be the overload in the compressor.
What keeps the windings cool is the refrigerant back to the compressor.
For the overload to cycle it would have to be either not enough cooling back to the compressor or high amp draw, which could be the metering device (txv or orifice) or low on charge, or other things would be a bad capacitor, sometimes a bad start relay not staying open, when compressor gets up to speed or anything causing the compressor to draw high amps.
To check the refrigerant, he needs to check the superheat at the compressor it should be appoximately 12° to15°, and next time the compressor goes off if you shut the power off and feel the top of the compressor and if it's hot 130° or higher it's probably refrigerant.

I own a maytag rsw 2700 refrig. motors run lights

Hi jtc1280 when you say motors are running, does that mean the compressor motor or is this just the cooling fans.
I suggest you remove the cover on the rear bottom to access the compressor motor and check the compressor by putting your hand on the compressor be cautious when doing this the compressor may be hot if not working correctly un plug the compressor and plug back up with hand on compressor see if you can fill the compressor running this motor runs with very little noise. If this motor is very hot insure that the colling fans are working and also that the condensing coil is free of lint build up which can make the unit over heat if this area has a lot of lint build up unplug unit clean the bottom out with air hose and vacuum if no air is available just use a dust brush to clean good let the compressor cool for 30 or 40 minutes before plugging back in.

Refrigerator not colling properly

Let it run until you have a problem again then look at the back wall of the inside of the freezer, if there is frost then it's not defrosting and that would be your problem (usually the defrost heater). If you don't see frost then you need to determine if the compressor is running or not. It's possible to hear the two fans run, but not the compressor. If the compressor is running, along with the 2 fans, then it is a sealed system problem and usually not worth fixing. If it's not running you'll need to check the compressor start relay on the side of the compressor. It is possible for a bad compressor to cause the relay to fail, so replacing it may or may not get you going again.
