Good Afternoon Friend,
I understand that the temperature alarm light is on for your Frigidaire freezer, model# FFU21M8CW. This feature is designed to provide a warning of a possible malfunction. If the temperature of the food rises to a level unsafe for long-term storage, the buzzer will sound. The red light, if equipped, will also glow. The Temp Alarm feature operates on household electricity. If power fails, the alarm will not function. An ON/OFF switch allows you to deactivate the Temp Alarm when not wanted. Your freezer is shipped with the Temp Alarm in the OFF position. After your freezer has run approximately 4 hours, the red light, if equipped, will go off. Then you may activate the Temp Alarm without the alarm sounding. Press the ON switch to activate the Temp Alarm. To deactivate, press the OFF switch. If the alarm sounds, be sure freezer is properly leveled, and the door closes freely, and seals properly. If you suspect a technical malfunction, call an authorized servicer immediately. Hope this is helpful.
-Best Regards-

I have this model. The light seems to be dependent on the temperature setting. That is the colder you set it the colder it has to be for the alarm light to go off. I normally keep mine set to the max (7) and the light never goes off. But the temperature on the door shelves is at 4F and the food on the shelves is 0F to -10F or less. If I set the temp higher the light goes off. I found the alarm useless for this reason and paid $12 for a thermometer that has a remote sensor and programable alarm. Drilled a small hole through the door for the probe, sealed it and now I have an alarm the beeps at 20F if the door is open too long or if there is a mechanical issue. So if your food is hard, get a thermometer and test the temp before you try other solutions.
I did have one issue once with the door not sealing which did not cause a temp issue as much as a lot of ice on the coils. I had a 1/16 inch gap at the top seal. I measured the gap to the door and it appeared to be the door itself that was causing the gap in that corner. The door hinge is not adjustable, so I riveted on a locking clasp and it seals it and after a few days seemed to bring it back into alignment so that it will seal on it's own if I forget to clasp it. This unit is not frost free not sealing will be pretty apparent by frost building on the shelves quickly. If for some reason you would have the same issue be very carefull where you place rivets or screws since the coils are built into the upper 2/3s of the side walls.
