Lowes, home depot and Sears sell them. Also, dremel.com sells parts.

Look carefully though, it may be cheaper to buy a new Dremel. There are also other brands of the same type tool.

How do I put a drill bit onto the chuck? The chuck doesnt have place to tighten the bit up.

This must be a (new) electric (12v,18v,20v).. you must use your hand to hold the chuck while you squeeze the trigger...DO IT SLOWLY... thats why the chuck has tiny ridges and some are lightly rubber coated for grip..

Drill will not rotate

Did you have to set the chuck into the spindle, or when you got the press, was the chuck already attached to the spindle? With the drill press I got (different brand), I had to set the chuck in the spindle and I put pressure on the chuck to set it in by placing a bit in the chuck and drilling in a piece of wood, which placed pressure on the chuck. If that's not the issue, check to see that the pulleys are turning ( flip the top open). Also check the tension of the pulleys (machine OFF) If there is nothing apparent or obviuosly not working, and if the press is new, yes, I would return it.

I can not found screw to remove chuck what can i do then

It may just be held on by the threads and locktite. I just replaced one recently and it was just like that. The spindle shaft should have two flats on it. Use a wrench (you may need to grind down the thickness of the wrench to fit the shaft. And it is most likely metric) on the shaft. If possible put a large, l shape allen wrench into the chuck and tighten it. Place the tool on the ground and keep pressure on the wrench. I will often place my foot on the wrench to hold it firmly to the ground. Using a large hammer hit the allen wrench in a counter clockwise direction. The chuck will be right hand thread. IF it had a screw that would be left hand thread. After you give the allen wrench a few good hits with the hammer it should loosen the chuck. The chuck should be 1/2"-20 thread which is common on 1/2" capacity chucks. It should be easy to find a replacement chuck. Use blue locktite and reverse the removal process to tighten the new chuck onto the tool.

I have a 9 in drill press and the chuck fell off while doing some hard drilling . it looks like a press fit and i wanted to be sure before i tried anything

Some drill-to-chuck fittings are known as morris tapers, and are incredibly strong. Look in the end of your motor shaft for a screw hole. The chuck probably has a screw or bolt holding it in place once the tapers align.

Can the chuck be replaced on a 18v dewalt?

Hello russ_rome,

Here is the solution from the Dewalt website.

Firstly check to see if the chuck is secured with a screw, if you have a screw follow steps 1-3 else follow steps 2-3.

Step 1: Screw will have a left-hand thread and must be turned clockwise to undo it.

Step 2: Once the screw has been removed place a suitable Allen Key in the chuck and tighten the jaws.

Step 3: You should then tap the end of the Allen Key to ease the chuck off (the chuck has a conventional thread so unscrew it in an anti-clockwise direction).

Some of our high spec cordless drills will need to be serviced need to be taken to your nearest service centre to have a new chuck fitted.

I have a DeWalt DW 235G drill that needs a new chuck. How do I get the old one off. I took out the screw ...then what?

Put the small end of a 1/4" allen wrench in the chuck and close the chuck on the wrench the place the drill on your bench with chuck hanging over the edge and hit the allen wrench with a hammer and it will shock the chuck loose. Hold on to the other end of the drill when hitting allen wrench.Reverse for reassembly

How do I remove the chuck off a milwaukee hole hawg. Ihave removed the screw inside the chuck and have tryed to trun it off but it wont move.

With the lock screw removed (it's a reverse threaded screw) you can procede with getting the chuck off the drive shaft.

OK, you need to put a 1/4" or larger hex key wrench into the chuck and tighten it in place with the chuck key. Put the short end into the chuck.

Once you've done that, place the drill chuck, only the smooth part, not the part with the teeth, on the edge of a solid workbench. Now hold the chuck with the hex key (long end) at a 30 degree angle off the bench top and strike the hex key with a hammer going counterclockwise (looking at the front of the tool) to loosen the right hand threads that hold the chuck to the shaft (spindle). You should now be able to easily remove the chuck by hand at this point.

Here's link to a manual for your Hole Hawg that will also show a nice illustration of the removal method, to make it a bit easier, as well as giving you other good info about your drill. Print a copy for your files and future reference.

Removing the dewalt DC925 'rohm' chuck

I have a DC927 and a DC926 that I removed 1/2" Rohm Supra SK key-less chucks on. This process is pretty simple. Put the drill motor in 1st gear. Put the clutch ring in drill mode and not in driver or hammer. Reverse or open the chuck all the way. Hold the chuck firmly in a vise and give the drill a good POP counter clockwise. The last step can also be done with a pipe wrench by placing the drill on a work bench and turning the chuck counter clockwise. Continue to un-thread until the chuck is removed. The replacement chuck must have the same mounting process and mechanism. Put a few drops of locktite on the threads and thread the replacement chuck back on. Tighten the chuck using the vise or pipe wrench. Place the short end of an allen wrench in the chuck and tighten down on it. Placing the drill on a work bench, strike the allen wrench with a mallet to finish tightening and locking down the chuck. Congratulations, you have just changed out your chuck.

Remove chuck from a dewalt dw953

I work in a large shop and I do most of the tool repair.  We do use DeWalt cordless guns so I have done this before.   I change these as often as they break at work.  About every 4 months the teeth fall out of a chuck and I replace the chuck with a new one.       To remove this chuck you should  use a heavy duty metric allen key and a good vise. The trick is to remove the small metric reverse thread screw. It is between 3 and 5mm.  Place the "L" of the allen key firmly in the vise with the long end pointing straight up.  Open the chuck all the way. Using a fully charged battery, place the gun in low (1st gear) and put the direction of the gun in FWD (as if you were driving a screw in), set the clutch to the drill setting (maximum torque) and drive that screw out of the chuck.  If the battery is not strong enough to drive the reverse thread screw out you will have to help it out.  Rotate the rear of the chuck clockwise and hopefully the screw will come out.  If that is not enough torque, I find the use of a small strap clamp helpful to turn the chuck against the reverse screw. Hope this helps.  Best Results!  Michael Mittelsdorf
