My problems is : cannot see any indicator (light bulb,probably) to show if my caps lock is off or on, Ihave a sumsung rv511

the #1 cause of bad troubleshooting is Assumptions/.
like my battery is good, you'd need a same PC known good to know that and test the battery there.to prove that. Batteries are the #1 failure mode of all PCs made. period. so.... even 1 year old !!! abused.

1: runs on AC ok battery out buy a new battery for $15

2: runs on battery only but not on AC only
buy a $15 AC power pack. (a dmm meter used now will prove its bad, (we test at the mobo jack live)

3: runs on AC but the new battery will not charge,
buy new mother board, the charging chip on board is toast $300

I suggest try to do a Hard Reset on your machine by removing the Battery, unplugging the Power Cord and after that Press and Hold the Power button for about one minute without any supply on the machine. After that put it all back in and see if still doing the same problem, If its still doing the same problem count the blinking lights on your caps lock it indicates what could be the hardware that's faulty on your machine then call the manufacturer's tech support and tell them that it gives you that kind of problem.

It depends on the keyboard model. Some have a number lock indicator light. There is no standard for location, either. The most common place for Caps lock, number lock, etc. on a desktop keyboard is behind the number key pad. However, some keyboards put the caps lock indicator right in the Caps lock key. There's probably at least one model that does the same for number lock. Many laptop models have no indicator, or a tiny one set somewhere in back bezel.

Some operating systems and applications have an option for displaying the status in the menu bar. If you can't find the number lock status indicator, you may have to resort to observing the behavior of the system when you hit a key on the number pad. If number lock is off, the even numbers (not including 0) will be arrow keys and the odd numbers will be page navigation keys.

I know if your gas cap is leaking the low fuel light will come on but I never heard of the gas guage showing empty unless you have a float problem. The float is in the tank.

You can try attaching an external keyboard using a USB or PS2 slot in your laptop. If the light goes on in the keyboard but not in your laptop, probably it's the bulb of your laptop.

With the new keyboards they don't use lights to indicate what is on or off. While pressing the Caps Lock key , look at the right lower side of your monitor and it will show Caps Lock ON or Caps Lock OFF. Just have to get use to looking at the monitor. Bud

To answer your question- Most laptops do not show the caps lock status on the task bar.
As you have probably noted, the caps lock indicator is located to the front, left of the keyboard. Not sure why they decided to place it there as it's usually covered by your left hand when typing. Maybe they built it that way for people that only type with their right hand? ;o)
