Display reads 68 degrees and pool is 84 degrees

My Sta-Rite model SR200NA heater is displaying a lower pool temperature at the display. My actual pool temp is quite higher than the display reads. This measured by am accurate thermometer in the pool and you can feel the difference in the pool.

Display reading 109 degrees pool at 77 degrees so heater wont turn on

If the display is displaying what the heater thinks the water temperature is then there is likely a problem in the water temperature sensor or the board that reads it. I would be prepared to take the heater apart to measure values with a volt/ohm meter before calling the Sta Rite technical support number at 888-782-7483. They should be able to help you figure out what part is malfunctioning.

Please let me know how this turns out. Thank you.

The sta-rite maxitherm heater I am asking about is for an inground pool

I would like you to try a reset of the system. Turn off the power on the heater, then turn off the circuit breaker that goes with the heater. Wait about 20 minutes and then try and start the heater. If it still will not power up, turn the display panel over, there are diagnostic lights on the back side. If the light is on next to the AFS, that is the Air Flow Switch.

Temperature reads 125 degrees.

I am not sure if you have solved this issue, or not, but just in case. The problem is the Thermister, or temp sensor. That will need to be replaced since it is reading the water temp at 125.

The Thermister is located on the manifold, left hand side, between the first two bolts. It is pretty easy to change out and this will correct the problem.
