Vtech 8L55 2 unit portable phone

I had one set of batteries on one set quit holding a charge. I put in 3 new batteries and put it back in its cradle charger. It said it was charging..then shortly it said it was searching. Then it started beeping. I left it on the charger overnight and it still will not work. I took batteries out of the good handset and put in it and it still does the same thing. The one I took the batteries out of started doing the same thing once the good batteries were replaced. It started working again on its own. Any ideas? Thanks John

I just had the same problem. Could be dirty terminals. I took the battery out, cleaned the terminals on the battery and phone with a pencil eraser, put the battery back in and it's working fine. (Says fully charged, where just a few minutes ago it said low battery).

I have a vetch mod# CS6114 I checked the base unit and it gets power to charge phone but I can't get a dial tone. I even hooked up to another line and still won't work.

This sounds like a registration problem, the
handset must be de-registered from wherever
it thinks it is and then registered to your base.

=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a cs6114 handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll from "Test Base" to "Test Handset", press [select]
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( III.) To register the cs6114 handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

NOTE 2: Some cs6114 bases do not have the "In Use"
lamp indicator. To register the handset simply park it
displaying "Not Registered" in the base cradle and wait
for the registration to occur. Pressing # as above may
be required, maybe not.
===============================
Good luck !!

How to activate a vtech phone

Instructions
    • 1Remove the battery cover from the back of the phone. Most models have a door that slides downward to reveal the battery compartment.
    • 2 Install the battery by inserting the connector on the battery wires over the pins in the handset battery compartment. The connector will only go on one way.
    • 3 Insert the battery pack into the compartment and replace the battery cover.
    • 4 Charge the phone by sitting it in the charger for a minimum of 16 hours on the first charge.
    • 5 Place the fully-charged phone onto the cradle of the base unit and wait for the display to show "PRESS FIND HNDST 4 SEC ON BASE." If the message does not come up, lift the phone off the base and put it back in the cradle.
    • 6 Press and hold the "FIND HANDSET" button on the base unit for approximately four seconds. The display on the phone will change to "PLEASE WAIT," then "HANDSET X REGISTERED."
    • 7 Test the phone by making a call.

batteries last up to 3 years and from e-bay are a fraction of that price
as for time in use should be at least 1 hour for a good battery
it is vital that after use you return the phone to the charge cradle
ensure that charger is operational

Phone is asking to 'Enter Base ID'. Where is base

You don't have to key in the ID, just put the phone back into the charging cradle of the base unit. It will then re-sync itself to your base unit's ID.

One 6041 handset will not connect, while the second handset does.

Unplug the entire phone set system from both electrical power and wall jack for approx 2-3 minutes and replug.

It's a reset measure that allows the entire system to reset / reboot as well as stops any and all line feed memory from the live phone line to hold the fault.

Such can be somewhat common when sharing the line with a DSL connection or wireless router is in use.

Vtech 2656 cordless phone battery not charging

You need to replace the battery pack. Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City and a few other stores may carry this battery. Just call them first so you don't make a wasted trip.

Wont charge

well i suggest you take it back to the shop where you got it from they will most likely send it off to the specialists free of charge , because it is a technical problem .

The most likely reason of this problem is maybe your putting the charger in to hard and its pushing it back so its not alowing it to charge? It is quite a bad phone in that aspect

Phones cant find base

I have two handsets, one of them recently starting dropping the connection to the base quite regularly [even if it was just inches away], and I ended-up in the same situation after unregistering the phone.

In my case, I was able to remove the battery from the phone [as you did] but also unplug the power on the base unit for several seconds. After restoring power to both, I was able to re-register the handset and it appears to be working more reliably now.
