Sharp lc26dv24U has sound but no picture for tv and works fine with dvd

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Hi.

If the screen is blank with back light on but no picture, then the problem is usually the digital board. There is no other way to test the board than reading voltages and following the schematics. Voltages are detailed in the diagrams in service manual, available here : sharp_lc-26dv24u_[ET].

The digital board starts at page 11.

You can also test on power board the lines 12VDC, 5VDC and 6VDC that supply power to digital board.

For safety reasons testing and repair must be done by a trained person.

Hope this is an LCD TV. If it is, show a torch light from a distance and see whether the picture can be seen. If yes, the backlight has gone bad. If no, try changing the input device to something you know works. If nothing works, this is a case for a qualified service technician.
