You should join the yahoo group "vikingsewingmachinespre1980". Bill will take very good care of you. I'm new to that group and have gotten every question I've asked answered. This is just for pre-1980 Vikings which includes the 6000 series - including the 6440. Good luck.
check with your local dealer first. If they can't help you, call Viking at: 1-800-474-6437 to see if they can get you a photo copy of the owners manual.
Try ebay or contact an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. They should be able to order you a replacement manual. Check Husqvarna Viking website for dealer closest too you.
