Error code 5y EF frigidaire refrigerator

I understand you are receiving an "SY EF" code on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS3R5EMB. The "SY EF" code stands for system error with the evaporator fan. This possibly means that there is something going on with your evaporator fan or it could possibly be a false error code. . Did not solve the issue on mine. Was worth a try.
I took the back cover off and found that ice had built up and was not allowing the fan to run. I removed the ice and the unit began to cool again. Now I have to find what is causing the icing problem.
Donald - did you ever find out what was causing the ice build up? We are having the same problem.

I had the SY EF error code on my frigidaire gallery refrigerator. Resetting it was a temporary fix. I replaced the control board ($130) to no avail. I then replaced the evaporator fan and noticed the black rubber grommet had ice buildup IN it. I had the fan ($90) anyway so I put it in and the error code was gone. But checking the rubber grommet in the first place would have been much easier and cheaper. The only catch is you have to pull out the fan like you are going to replace it. Hope this helps since I didn't find much detailed guidance online.

That SY ER is the SYtem EvapoRator Fault. This usually means there is NOT enough air flow over the sensor, this can mean a faulty sensor, or fan.. you need to check.
In my professional opinion you should get a service tech to call, contact your head or local Frigidaire offic, and ask them for a referral to an authorized service agent. When there then ask for a "Quote" as to the repair, this way you can make an informed decision.
usually though a repair such as this shouldn't be too costly, however it may just be the tip of an underlying condition, which is why i suggested the professional.

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an error code of "5Y CE". However it appears that "5Y CE" is an invalid error code. I didn't even have to replace the motor I just saw that there was Ice sitting on the casing was able to remove it and everything is working great.
