Need to replace both drive and roller brush belt. Can't just replace one even if the other is fairly new.

SOURCE: Belt Keeps slipping off shaft

If this is a new belt that keeps coming off, then if not catching something in the roller like a scatter rug, etc then the belt isn't tracking true. The pulley may have come loose for one thing, something has to be off to have the belt come off. Does it come off almost right away, or after some uasge?

The main belt on my hoover model u6634-900 windtunnel keeps comming off the motor shaft

  • A list of things to check (unplug vacuum FIRST):
    1. All contact surfaces for belt are clean of build up, that can push belt in one direction
    2. Brush roller is not flip end for end (the pulley on the motor shaft should line up straight with the worn area of the brush roller).
    3. The guard on the bottom (covering the belt and brush sides) is clean and free of build up.
    4. The ends of the brush roller are free of build up and the bushings that slide in the end are inserted in the correct direction, this can cause the brush roller to set at an angle and cause the belt to slide in one direction.
    5. You have the correct replacement belt, I have found the wrong belt placed in the packaging for my vacuum at the factory once before (check manufacturers website).
    6. If the brush roller is extremely worn, it could be time to replace but this is very unlikely.
    7. Rotate the motor shaft by hand and see if there is any wobble, the pulley could be on crooked or bearing has failed causing slop in the motor shaft.

How to stop the main belt from comming off the motor shaft on a hoover modle u6634-900/windtunnel

Hello there! If you have replaced the belt and it is still slipping off, you may be not have the right belt for your vacuum. This unit takes a flat belt and a v-belt. Make sure you are replacing the belts with Genuine Hoover Parts. I have included the links below where you may go to order the belts specific to your cleaner.

WindTunnel PowerDrive Belt 2 Pack

WindTunnel Self Propelled Belt

Hope this helps!

I need to replace the belt. Have the belt and the vacuum bottom off. What do I attach the belt too?

This unit has 2 belts. The V-belt on the brush usually doesn't cause problems. The larger flat belt requires regular replacement ( belt # 38528-035 ). The belt is first placed around the motor shaft toward the rear of the machine, and then around the large pulley. You must have strong fingers to stretch the belt over the drive pulley. Start the belt at the top of the pulley, and try to "roll " it around the pulley a little at a time, holding the belt firmly around the pulley as you go.

Describe how to replace belt on hoover windtunnel bagless

If you turn the vacuum so the bottom is facing up you will see the base plate that covers the roller brush. There will be four screws (usually phillips head), remove the screws and the base plate will lift off. You now have access to the roller brush and belt. Lift the roller brush up and remove the old belt. Place one end of the new belt over the motor shaft and the other end over the roller brush and put the roller brush back in place. Now simply replace the base plate and you're done! This models requires Hoover belt # 38528033 (single) or Hoover belt #40201160 (2 pack). You can get this belt at www.vacbelts.com.

Flat belt on Hoover Windtunnel requires to be replaced regularly

No it is not normal. The brush roll may be bad causing extra stress on the belt. The other option is the belt is installed incorrectly. I believe this model has a brush on/off option and the belt must be correctly installed around both the motor shaft and the shaft for that brush on/off switch.

Replace the belt

Once the bottom plate has been removed, the motor shaft is silver, but hard to see. hook the new belt on it first. then start rolling on the top of the large black pulley to install.

BELTS ON WINDTUNNEL VACUUMS

Greetings from GoVacuum,

Here's an instructional video that we made showing how to change the belt on a Hoover Windtunnel upright. If your model is not a self propelled model, basically follow the same insturctions, expect instead of placing the belt over the pulley, just put the belt through the roller brush, and stretch the roller brush back into the agitator housing.
Please feel free to send me an email if you have any other questions. My email address is [email protected].

Thanks,

Changing belts

Turn vac over, remove the 4 screws holding the bottom plate covering the brush roll. There are 2 belts, one is a V belt ( 38528034) for the brush roll, the other is a flat belt (38528035) that goes from the larger pulley and the motor shat, put it on the motor shaft then stretch it to go over the pulley.
