Dont turn it back on your terminals on the compressor have vented causing all the freon and oil to leak out this is a fire hazzard. This dehumidifier is ready for the trash buy a new one soleus air is a lot better quality. Keep in mind all dehumidifiers are made very cheap so they are affordable and dont have a long life span. Let me know if this helps.
Hi,
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier willnot work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrongwith their dehumidifier
You can't control the temperature setting but you can control the humidity level. I would start somewhere between 35 and 40%- making sure to empty the dehumidifier promptly when full. 40% humidity will prevent mold and mildew growth- and that musty smell- but keep the room from becoming too dry.

Hi,
I would say that the burning smell is a sign that the motor is failing...it will cost more to replace a motor then to buy a new one...
Trash it and buy a new one..
Hello Filter neglect is a popular cause of problems.20yrs you got your moneys worth the unit dosent owe you a thing.Burning smells sounds dangerous. Please look into replacement.
If the fan motor is quite hot to the touch when it is running and the smell is like something burning and the fan blade isn't rubbing on the housing then the fan motor bearing are most likely worn out. If that is the case then the fan motor is bad and needs to be replaced.
