Well you forgot this pesky thing called drive formats
and ownership rules for files or folders.
the drive came new with NTFS format that is MS only and fails on MAC. take the drive back to the PC running windows and erase all you want.
apple does not PAY MS the license fees to use NTFS is why....

if lost the PC, windows , to work on... we...
then format the drive to extFAT so both windows and mac can use this drive.

here is how

SOURCE: My son in law is

If he only wants to use HP pocket drive with the MAC, then he needs to format the pocket drive with the MAC notebook.
If he wants to exchange files between the MAC and a PC, then he needs to format the pocket drive with a PC. The pocket drive needs to be formatted in FAT32.
A MAC will then be able to read and copy PC files in FAT32 format.

Recover deleted photos using mac

have you lost your photos on your memory card/USB drive?

If you appear to be a Mac user, just try this Photo Recovery app. It can nimbly recover deleted photo files, music sources and video clips from Mac hard disk drive and memory devices containing USB Drive and SD card. http://www.leawo.org/photo-recovery-mac/

Simply insert the card to your Mac and run the photo recovery app. The software may help you scan the card and then show you files it has found. Choose the pics you want to get back and hit the "Recover" button to start.

When I try to delete files it says that they are protected and cant be deleted. I can not cnage the attributes to delete them.

Restart your computer and go into safemode then try deleting them, if that doesn't work make sure you have administrator rights and allow all privileges to you then delete the files.

HP IPAQ POCKET PC

1st approach (Quick one!)

1. Soft reset your device
2. make a backup copy of the folder \SD-MMCard\MSMETADATA if exists.
3. delete the folder \SD-MMCard\MSMETADATA.
4. Soft reset your device once again.

2nd approach (Long one!)

If 1st approach did not work, restore the MSMETADATA folder and try the following:

Step Zero: BACKUP
- Make a full backup of your device (including storage cards). If you don't like to do a full backup keep at least a backup of all files and folders we are going to delete as indicated below:

Step One
-In the main device directory delete the file WMPInfo.xml
-Delete the \Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\ directory and all of
the files in it including the WMDRM folder.
-Delete the \Music folder

Step Two
-Go to your SD card main directory and delete the file WMPInfo.xml
-Delete the folder \SD-MMCard\MSMETADATA
-Delete the folder \SD-MMCard\WMDRM
-Delete the folder \SD-MMCard\Music

Step Three
-Repeat step two for any other storage cards.

Step Four
-Refresh devices in WMP and the storages card should show up in the left tab
and in the sync window you can click "Next Device"

Hope this helps...

Playing a song?

Did you use your own cd's? If so, did you use Windows Media Player to copy (rip) them to your computer? Windows Media Player, by default, has "copy protect my music" selected. To remove this, in Windows Media Player select Tools>Options>Rip Music and un-check the copy protect my music mark. You will need to delete the music you already transferred, then re-copy the music without protection, then re-transfer them to your device. Best of Luck.
