Just as the others who posted here, my 2 1/2 year old 46" Samsung DLP started showing "white spots" about two weeks ago and now everytime I turn the TV on there are a couple more. What's up with Samsung? Before I bought this TV for $1500 I thoroughly researched HDTVs and Samsung rated the highest for quality AND service! Sounds like this isn't the case after all. I am so disappointed as I don't have $1000 to get the TV fixed or to even attempt to fix it myself. Is there any recourse we can take to "encourage" Samsung to stand by its products or is this just part for the course with electronics? This is the biggest TV purchase I've ever made and had hoped that the TV would last longer than 3 years! If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know..I really don't want to put this TV out on the curb!
Are the spots fixed or do they move with the image? Verify that all venting is clean of dust. If the spots are fixed and upon close examination are a square shape, The device is overheating of failing. If the spots are moving with image it's a front end problem, and can be overheating as well.
This are the dead pixels and will not go away. In fact number of "white" dead pixels will grow over the time. I am experiencing exactly same problem with my 2 1/2 yrs old 50" TV. No help from Samsung and I have no clue what to do. Any information will be helpful. Thanks

Thanks for the info. I will take a look at it. Yes, the spots are stationery. Being a girl and not up on the workings of these HDTVs...yes, I come from the day of the old picture tube! I'm not sure where to look where "venting" is. Thanks for your help; wish it were a simple fix.
Have you read other blogs and comments on websites about this problem with Samsung? Nothing positive about them, let me tell you! There are a bunch of people out there with the very same issues, who have contacted Samsung and they've totally blown them off. Nearly everyone has only owned their TV for 2 - 2 1/2 years. I do think I will compose a letter to their corporate office, though...hey, what can it hurt. Thanks for trying to help....anymore ideas, I'm all eyes!
