You may have a faulty speed control depending on the model. There are hand held programmers that are used to adjust the speed and other parameters. Your local dealer or mobile technician should be able to make that adjustment for you.

My chair will not change speeds. Very slow, No flashing lights

That is possible. Check the power circuit from the battery and see if there is any loose connections or resistance in the circuit via the voltage drop method. Here are some links that may help:

I have a pronto M61. Forward speed is very slow even when adjusted to higher speeds. Turning speed increases normally. Is there a problem in the joystick?

Has this chair got power raiser for seat? if so check it is fully down or check down micro switch. These will not go fast with the seat raised. A safety option built in.

My son has a invacare chair should go 6 mph but has slowed to a snails crawl. How Can I speed it back up?

The chair may be in what they call SLOW MODE or the batteries are weak. If you have powered seating on the chair the seat has sensors that make the chair drive slow or not drive at all when the seat is tilted or reclined or raised. A sensor can go bad or get out of position. The joystick could have different programming for different drive modes. Try changing drive modes.

How do I speed up a Merit Vision Sport?

As the user of the chair, you will not have the ability to speed up your chair unless you have the specific programmer to raise the speed. Typically mobility specialist will turn your speeds down until you get used to the chair and then come back out when you are capable of driving chair at faster speeds. You will have to call the dealer who slowed it down or, another DME company in your area to have the chair speed adjusted.

Pride Motor Chair 2008 Vr2 Controller Speed adjustment lights go to fast setting but chair barely crawls along!

Great question! The slow flash is indicative of a speed reduced mode on models designed for a seat lift option. If the controller detects that the seat is elevated then the speed is reduced - regardless of what you try to do at the joystick.
First - try lowering the seat to its lowest position.
If this doesnt work then look for a bad or disconnected sensor switch on the seat post. There are two leads at a 2-pin plug that are not making a connection when the seat is lowered - causing the controller to sense the chair is not safe to drive fast.

Pronto m41 moves slow at all times

If you have a seat lift on your chair, you will have to lower the seat lift. This is call limp mode so the chair does not move to fast and tip over while the person is in the chair. If this is not the case, then your chair controller may be over heating and it will also cause the chair to go into limp mode. this is a better option than totally stopping. the way to correct this is to let the chair sit and "cool down" for a little while. It usually takes about 30 minutes, sometimes less in cooler environments to get the chair back to normal use. If neither are the solution, then you have a problem with the chair that causes the controller to reduce the output. You will need to get an authorized Tech to check the chair out to determine the root cause.

How do we lock out the fast speed on grandpa's chair so he doesn't hurt anyone?

Ann You will have to contact the provider of Gramp's chair to ask if they have a programmer for Invacare chairs. Then they will have to program the chair for a lower speed. Of course you can turn the speed down on the joystick but Grandpa is probably the one that will put it back to fast cause its going too slow. try also contacting Roadrunner Mobility@ 1-800-467-2668 and ask if they have a tech in your area that has a progeammer to slow his chair down. Hope this helps

To slow, i need it to go faster

Are your batteries fully charged? Are the batteries 2 years old or older? Even with a full charge older batteries will not generate amperage to make the chair go as fast as when new. Also the motors tend to slow down with age due to brushes wearing down. Now, if the batteries are new and the motors are not that old then you need to find a wheelchair provider that has a PP1 programmer and have then check the settings for forward speed etc. If the speed is not set to 100 then they can increase the forward speed to 100%. Hope this helps you

Chair runs to fast in high speed. can it be slowed down

If you can alter the speed, there will be a dial on the armrests to turn it down, i presume you have 4mph and 8mph,the dial will adjust the speed , so that it takes longer to reach 8mph.
