If it plays CDs and DVDs but not BluRays at all, then the blue laser is burned out. CDs and DVDs use a different laser. A needed firmware update would not prevent it from reading a BluRay.
There is a firmware update for that model. Try updating it. If that does not help, you may need to send it in for repair or buy a new one.

If you have the availability to connect it to the internet via the network jack on the back of the console, please do this and run through the set up to make sure that your firmware, is correct and updated!
I purchased the RCA Home Theater System RTD315WR less than a year ago. Just a little over a month ago, the door would not open leaving my DVD still stuck inside. Upon many attempts trying to retrieve my DVD NOTHING HAPPENS. As a matter of fact, the standbye light comes on, and when I push the button the light tunrs off completely and NOTHING happens. Since I no longer have my receipt or box, Wal-Mart would not exchange it. I am in the process of writing a letter to Wal-Mart Headquarters in hopes they will assist me in this matter.
