You may only need Windows 8 driver for the video card, and not any software for the monitor itself.

not every motherboard or on board video is compatible with windows 8

what windows was it running previously

windows 8 was designed for 64 bit platforms which requires 4 gig of ram but you have to also take into account the other hardware components and there maximum configuration

i have run win 8 on 2 gig of ram but it struggles with you tube downloads

i upgraded the ram to 4 gig and run win xp win 7 and win 8.1 on the hard drive

your system my not support windows 8. all systems will try to run but will not. any software will install but will not always run if the motherboard will not support it.jim

Is it supposed to? Are there any 64 bit Win 8 drivers available for your motherboard? Did you get your drivers from the ASUS website?

You will need to reboot after the installation is done.

Can be a lot of things, can be your hard drive.

Your PC is not set to run win 8, yes people put it on older machines, but some don't realize it's not running properly.

Windows 8 has a call for a CPU that has- PAE, NX, and SSE2 features, if the CPU does not have these you will have problems.

Most all motherboards that now support win 8, have had BIOS updates for the kernel of win 8. Only the newest one's out are set to support win 8, but they had BIOS made for it.

Your system has no BIOS updates at all.

There is a utility that will check your CPU to see if win 8 will run on the system, but you need have the OS working, like win 7.

Read this page, and try and run this utility. It would be best for you to reinstall win 7 and run it.

The only reason win 8 will work better is if it is on a system that was made to run it.

If the pc is compatible to run windows 8.

If it fails, the pc is not capeable to run windows 8.

The solution is to continue useing windows 7, or buy a new pc with windows 8 installed.

The Asus p5kpl am motherboard will run windows 8. There are no drivers for windows 8 at the Asus site yet, but if you need drivers after the install, you can try the windows 7 drivers.

Windows doesnt like hardware changes. and specially if your useing a 32bit windows it doesnt support more than 3.0-9GB of ram. you need 64bit windows to work on 4GB or more.
