Can be a lot of things, can be your hard drive.
Your PC is not set to run win 8, yes people put it on older machines, but some don't realize it's not running properly.
Windows 8 has a call for a CPU that has- PAE, NX, and SSE2 features, if the CPU does not have these you will have problems.
Most all motherboards that now support win 8, have had BIOS updates for the kernel of win 8. Only the newest one's out are set to support win 8, but they had BIOS made for it.
Your system has no BIOS updates at all.
There is a utility that will check your CPU to see if win 8 will run on the system, but you need have the OS working, like win 7.
Read this page, and try and run this utility. It would be best for you to reinstall win 7 and run it.
The only reason win 8 will work better is if it is on a system that was made to run it.
