lamp replacement is very easy and mentioned in related instruction manual of TV. Please buy original Sony lamp from Sony Accessories Store and avoid aftermarket / cheap lamp.

This model also has a paper filter for the Optic block that should be changed. No one ever said anything about it. shortens the life of the optic block if not changed.

Two thumbscrews on either side of the tv on the lower part on the back(reach around the back on either side and you will feel them), unscrew them and the lower front panel will pop off. It will take a little tugging to get it to pop off but you will hear popping noise. then toward the center there will be another cover with a thumbscrew unscrew this and remove the cover, the bulb is located under this cover, then use the provided Allen wrench and unscrew the two Allen wrench screws holding the bulb in. Next insert the new bulb making sure you push the connector in firmly. Then re-assemble the unit.

I just replaced the lamp on my Sony Wega 51 inch LCD Projection TV and it still doesn't work. Before I changed the lamp I was seeing the lamp indicator blinking green so I knew it needed to be changed. I bought a new one, as recommended by so many other people I saw online who were having the same problem, but after I installed it it didn't work. I turned the power on, you can hear it click and the power light turns green, then 5 seconds later the power light switches to blinking red. Someone help me please!!!!!
