Check the heating element. A quick functional test is to start a cycle that uses the heating element, cancel it after a couple of minutes into that cycle, then (carefully) put your hand near it to see if it is warmer than the surrounding parts. If not, start there.

If you are familiar with the use of a multimeter, and you can get at the underside of the dishwasher, you would disconnect power to the dishwasher, find the heater terminals underneath, then measure the resistance. It should be a low value, not more than a hundred ohms or so (this type of heater probably has a resistance around 10-30 ohms). Look for oxidation on the terminals or connectors on the wires. If there is corrosion, (especially signs of water leaking onto the terminals), clean that up and fix any leaks. If the heater reads open, replace it.

The E1 error or fault code indicates that when the drain pump is running it is not experiencing the back pressure it expects. This is usually an indication that there is a water leak in the drain system. Check all hoses and connections. Check under the dishwasher for any major leak. If all checks out, be certain there is a proper loop in the drain hose to prevent siphoning. Finally, if the problem persists, the drain pump itself might be defective.

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller.

Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat.

MINE IS A 3850DD3006A AND IS 4 YEARS OLD. I HAVE CHANGE THE MOTOR TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, IT GIVES CODE LE. THE MOTOR RING SPLITS AND WON'T LET THE MOTOR SPIN EASILY.

MINE IS A 3850DD3006A AND THE MOTOR IS HELD IN BY THE PROPRLLER IN THE TOP. AND UNDER NEATH THE MOTOR BY SCREWS.

MINE IS A LG 3850DD3006A AND YES THE GARBAGE DISPOSER GETS STRAWS AND JUNK IN IT. OR THE SCREEN ON THE TOP IS COVERED WITH MACARONI AND CHEESE. OR TWICE IN 4 YEARS THE MOTOR RING SPLIT AND THE MOTOR STARTED TO GRIND THAT RING TILL IT STOPPED ALLTOGETHER.

Contact LG @ 1800 243-0000 this is a known issue and they may help you out.

The drying vent needs to be updated if this is a couple years old amoung other items such as the wire harness and inner door liner..

I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE MOTOR $100.00 TWICE IN TWO YEARS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MOTOR HAS A MAGNETIC? RING THAT SPLITS AND STOPS THE MOTOR FROM SPINNING. TODAY THE DOOR ROPE THAT MAKES THE DOOR NOT SO HEAVY BROKE. IT IS FOUR YEARS OLD TODAY.
