Mower has multiple safety switches, seat,&hydraulics, also a bad PTO switch will cause them not to start.

John deere L20 tractor mower will not start. it wont even turnover. i think it has something to do with the pto kill switch

There probably several kill switched, on the PTO and another under the seat. For diagnostic purposes only the switches can be jumped with a wire to see which switch is bad. Once it is located remove it and replace it with a new one.

there is now power from the ignition switch to the sinal wire on the solenoid, may be a fuse, or a faulty ignition switch

Engine wont crank or start from key but will crank running cables to starter

there is a safety switch under the mower the clutch pedal closes for starting
look for plug to be off or cut wires.
also the solinoid switch close to battery could be bad.

don't forget to rate me.
thanks.

My craftsman lawn tractor quit while cutting heavy grass. wouldn't restart..........pushed it to the garage............ took off deck......... still woundn't start replaced battery ......... still will...

Try using jumper cables and jumping from the positive battery post to the starter lug where the main cable hooks to the starter. If you don't have jumper cables find the solenoid on the inside of the right side panel. Pull the rubber caps off and jump that with an old screw driver if the engine turns and starts on either occasion it is the solenoid. Part # 192507 sells for about $15.00 at searspartsdirect.com

I have a cub cadet zforce 48 zero turn. It wont start unless I jump across the solinoid. I've changed it and still does the same. Whats the problem?

Make sure the control arms are all the way out, the brake is locked in the on position. There are safety switches on each control arm and one on the brake lever, also there is a safety switch on the seat...if either is faulty the mower will not key start.
