Hi, When the water is to be filling, do you hear the inlet valve humming? Remove the inlet valve hoses and see if there is any sand plugging the screen inside the inlet valve. If the inlet valve does not hum when the water is to be filling, you will need to replace the valve.
I hope this helps you.

No cold water coming into machine

Follow the cold water line inside the washer where it connects to a 'Fill Valve' which is a valve/solenoid. Using an electrical test meter check the two wires at the solenoid for 110 volts when the machine is calling for cold water. If there is voltage but no cold water the valve is most likely bad. You may also want to pull the hose to make sure you have water running through the hose from the spigot. With the hose off at the valve look to see if there is a screen at the valve that might be clogged.

Cold water is not filling machine when place on cold washer cycle

Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally. If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following. Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on. Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct. Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

Our washing machine is putting out hot water when the temprature setting is on cold ...and cold water when it is on hot. All rinses are hot. What part could be bad?

The water temperature is incorrect The temperature of the incoming water determines the temperature of the water in your washer. You get either hot, cold, or a mix of the hot and cold water that's currently available to the machine. So if the cold water that enters the machine is very cold--or if the hot water entering the machine is very hot--the warm water is affected. If you live in a Northern climate, unless you adjust the hot and cold water taps that supply water to your washer, the warm water supplied to your washer is usually hotter during the summer months and colder during the winter months.

Whirlpool washing machine...only uses hot water

Make sure the hoses are connected correctly to the water valve on the machine. The connections will be marked with an "H" and a "C".

Given they are correct, most current washing machines have and auto temp feature on the water fill. It allows even cold water settings to bring in some hot water to make sure the water temp is hot enough to efficiently disolve your laundry detergant. The preset temps are usually around 75* for cold, and 105* for warm. Hot water comes in at whatever temp your household water temp is.

No cold water will enter machine but not water

Turn off the cold water.
Remove the cold water hose from the washer. Clean out the filter screen in the water valve. Re-attach the hose and turn the water back on. If you get no cold water replace the water valve.
