HP Laserjet 3050 All in one printer - Unable to receive faxes?

During a V.34 transmission, the local machine is unable to connect (handshake) with the remote machine and is consequently unable to send a T30 frame. This occurs when the line is disconnected or if line conditions degrade during the session.

Solutions

• Remove any pass-through devices from the phone line, and then try the fax again.
• Confirm that the fax/phone cable is no longer than required, and that it does not pass near unshielded electric motors such as fans, heaters, or household appliances.
• Try to send the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

Look in fax menu, to see what is the FAX RECEIVING MODE. It must be set to FAX.

check the phone line is properly connected and you are getting dial tone and dialing facility from the phone line which is connectd to fax line.go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set.

I found a blog on the Ooma site that said this can be fixed by prefixing your fax send number with 99. There were several comments from people who tired this fix and it worked for them!

Please make sure the machine is set for auto-receive in machine set up and make sure the phone cord is plugged into the line jack on the machine. If this machine is not on a dedicated phone line the machine (rings) should be set to pick up before the answering machine does.

Press menu button printer control panel.
Select the option reports.
Selected all faxes reports and that should allow you printer the report everytine you send or recieve fax

1. Press the right arrow until Reports appears in the display, press the checkmark.
2. Press the right arrow until Fax Call Report appears in the display, press the checkmark.
3. Press the right arrow until Print Report appears in the display, press the checkmark.
4. Right arrow to the option of choice, press the checkmark to save the change.

• Send Fax Only - a confirmation sheet will only print when a fax is sent
• Never - no fax confirmation sheets
• Every Error - default setting
• Send Error - a fax confirmation prints when the fax transmission encounters an error
• Every Fax - a fax confirmation sheet will print for incoming and outgoing faxes
