HTR-5740 Subwoofer Hooking Up Issue

I have a HTR-5740 yamaha receiver, it has the subwoofer where you have to have RCA cable for it to work, but I have multiple different subwoofers, that have speaker wire and not RCA cable, is there any possible way of splitting a RCA cable to the speaker wire, or hooking it into the yamaha receiver? thank you

You can use a hi-level to low-level adapter. Just remember, the Yamaha does not send power (wattage) to the sub, just signal. You need to use a subwoofer that has an amplifier either externally or built in.

MAke sure you have the lfe output enabled. Or you could try to use a headphone to rca adapter from a cd player/phone to test it directly.

I have a rca no rtd250 impedance 12 ohms subwoofer. how do i connect it to my yamaha htr 5940.do i need a special cabel where do i get it.

The Yamaha can only drive powered subwoofers. Make sure that the RTD250 has it's own amplifier built in, you won't be able to easily run it off the yamaha if it doesn't.( the powered subwoofer will have a mains cord to power if it's correct) If it doesn't have a amp built in, easiest weay is to buy a cheap powered sub.
Is the RTD 250 the sub fromthe RCA home theatre pack?

Connecting a Yamaha VX7 Subwoofer on my Yamaha HTR 5730 AV Receiver

Hello srqwrk,

You can connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable like the one shown in the picture below. You get your one connection for the receiver and 2 for the VX7. These are available at any electronics store. Remember that the cable should be long enough to go from the receiver to where subwoofer will be placed.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

Cerwin vega ht-10d subwoofer won't work in yamaha reciever

Well, as I know, your Cerwin Vega subwoofer is designed for use with stereo systems. Therefore, it has only 2 channels for input, and 2 channels for output as well. However, you can try this out; the first thing I suggest is that you hook up your main front channels through the subwoofer. All you have to do is to connect the subwoofer input to the front channel output on the amp, then hook up your front speakers to the satellite output on the subwoofer. As long as you make sure that system is working on 8 ohms, I believe this can activate the subwoofer.
