IF YOUR BIOS CAN'T RECOGNIZE A NEW PROCESSOR AND STIL INDICATES YOU HAVE THE OLDONE, BUT YOUR COMPUTER WORKS FINE, YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS: 1.Live with it. No harm should be done. Actually there is a faster procesor in your computer and it works. 2, Update your BIOS. You should find the proper BIOS update for your computer. If any error happens while updating your BIOS, you may "brick" your computer.. It will be converted to a nice decoration piece and conversaton object.
Ahhh.. just another possibility. sounds incredible, maybe you'll say that it's not possible, but maybe you made a mistake and used the old processor or you installed a similar processor to the one you had before?
YOU CAN'T WINDOWS 32X CAN ONLY USE 4 GB (1 GB TO THE SYSTEM).THAT LEAVES YOU 3 GB AND 4 USELESS GB. YOU NEED A 64X PROCESSOR TO HAVE USE OF 8 GB MEMORY.
Hi Trifon, you are detecting a known problem for 32 bit operating systems. The problem for those system is that they can manage maximum 3 Gb of RAM. If you want all of your RAM used you have to install a 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 has also a version for 64 bit as well as windows xp (but is not good supported) and windows vista.
It requires at least 2 gb ram and c2 duo or higher.
Be sure you have that min with your pc.
next you need windows cd.
insert it int drive and press F3 or any key to boot with cd.
It's then very simple just do as pc says.
In format using type choose NTFS
next just proceed as directed and you are done.

I believe it should work fine. Sony's site has good driver support for windows 7, and directions on installing Windows 7 on that machine. So it should work without any issues.
