Although it does not specifically reference the Artisan, the procedures are the same as for the tili-head mixer shown.

KitchenAid KSM150PSBK Artisan Series stopped working

Check that the motor brushes are not worn out. Under the black screw caps one each side of the motor. Note that the brushes have one corner shaved off, they only fit properly one way.
Remove the back cover (one screw at the top) and check for a broken or fallen off wire. If that doesn't solve it then you are going to need a multi meter and start testing for a break in the circuit.

Kitchenaid professional 6000 My mixer has a problem and I know it's in the planetary but cannot figure out how to open it. Any help would be appreciated. John

You need to remove the trim band (one screw at the back) that exposes 4 screw heads where the top cover joins the gear case. There are 4 screws from the top that retain the planetary assembly. I can't remember if you need to remove the motor to expose all of them. The motor is no big deal to remove.

Removing motor cover

Just remove all the screws you see on the bottom and front of the mixer. There is also a screw hidden in the neck of the stand.

Kp26m1xwh Kitchenaid mixer 575 watt stopped working.

On the back of the mixer is a screw holding on the Kitchenaid name plate band that wraps around the mixer. Remove this screw and the name plate and then you'll see four screws (two on each side) holding on the top cover for the mixer. Remove the four screws and then lift off the top cover and you'll see the motor, circuit board and gear box that operate the mixer.

KitchenAid 2671 Mixer always wiggling

I have had the same problem to remove the motor you need to remove the two screws at the back of the motor next the two screws holding on the circuit board (so you can get at the screws around the gearbox ) next remove the cover on the gearbox by removing the four screws and lift off after you have done this you can lift the motor out but remember you still have the wires connected but you can get at the screws to tighten the head down try using lock-tight on the screws

My kitchenaid standmixer started to smoke, need to open

See my posts on removing the motor cover. DO NOT USE this mixer if it smoked. Something needs to burn to cause smoke. I doubt you can fix this without new parts.

Kitchenaid mixer makes a clanging noise

Hi. If your mixer is under warranty, call Kitchenaid. They are very good at replacing mixers under warranty.

If you are out of warranty, this is where the fun begins, NOT!

Remove the silver band from around the top of mixer. Remove 4 screws that secure the top cover, remove cover and at the front top of the machine locate the transmission cover. Inspect this cover carefully for cracks. If you find cracks in it...You have just discovered Kitchenaid's dirty little secret. A cheap plastic transmission housing! The failure of this cheap part is the cause of all of the rest of the damage inside the mixer, which may include a destroyed worm gear and shaft, destroyed bearings and their seats. You're not alone. I estimate that thousands of these plastic parts have failed causing great damage to the rest of the mixer

Kitchenaid's replacement housing is made out of metal. If you feel up to the task of repairing the mixer yourself goto the Kitchenaid website and do a search for the parts catalog for your mixer model, these will assist you with disassembly, reassembly and parts ordering.

If you're not up to the task, take it to an authorized repair place once you have put the cover back on.
Even if you're out of warranty, you may be able to have Kitchenaid pay for the replacement parts, they did for my mixer. Be persistent with them and try to get to a manager with your complaint. This cheap piece of plastic has no business being installed on a high-priced machine.

If this solution has assisted you, please rate it. ricardok45
