SOURCE: noisy on rugs!

Are the rugs long haired or short haired? Most likely the suction is just causing the noise when it picks up the rug and the buzz saw could be the beater bar hitting the rug then. I actually own a DC14 and it does the same thing and the rugs like to be dragged along. Nothing really to fix this, just the way it is. You could try it with the beater bar raised and see how well it works then but this sounds normal.

SOURCE: How is the dirt canister removed from the Dyson

I'm sure you've figured it out by now but there is a button located next to the handle of the canister and you simply click there to release it.

Hopefully that helped!

Why won't the brush on the head stop spinning?

Hi Glen, it's Jack at Dyson.

Depending on which DC39 variant you own, you may have the facility to shut off the rotating brush bar using the trigger control on the hand grip. The brush should be shut off when cleaning hard flooring, delicate rugs or long pile carpet. Press and hold the button for a few moments to shut off the brush bar:

What size does Dyson DC 39 vac tool attachments fit?

Hi Margo, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC39 should only be used with genuine Dyson accessories, as these have been engineered and tested specifically for use with this model. The use of non-Dyson parts could cause damage to your machine which may not be covered under guarantee.

WHEN EVER I PLACE THE SPINNER ON THE VACUUM IT STOPS SPINNING

Hi Linda,

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC39 brush bar. The brush bar on your machine is air driven. Generally, if the brush bar stops rotating it is due to an obstruction that is preventing air flow. Please visit the appropriate link below for step by step instructions on locating and removing a blockage from your machine.

When I turn the vacuum on there is no suction and when I then go to turn it off it sounds as though it is backfiring. It is a Dc39

Hi Robyn, it's Jack at Dyson.

From what you've described, it sounds like your DC39 is blocked. This would prevent the machine from picking up as well as it should do, and will cause the relief valve to activate, making the 'backfiring' noise you've mentioned.

We'd recommend checking the floor tool, telescopic wand and hose for blockages. If you can't find any, it's likely the blockage will be in the duct hose. Our Online Support guide will walk you through how to clear this: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc39/dc39-animal/diagnosis-root-menu/performance-flo-extension-tube-suction-check-dc39

It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash, as shown in the video attached. This should be done at least once every three months in normal use. We recommend using cold water without any detergent, then allowing the filter to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like any further advice from our experts please email [email protected] and we'll be in touch as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Jack
