You may need to enable the notebook VGA output. They can switch between notebook only, notebook + VGA or VGA only. You usually press the "fn" key and one of the Function keys at the same time. On my laptop, I press "Fn" and "F5". Please note that it can take some seconds for the switching to be completed so press them together once and then wait 10 seconds to see if it does what you want. (remember it may be something other than F5, look for a picture of a monitor or a square symbol).
you may need to change the resolution of the desktop it may not be correct for the input that the tv needs. also look for any buttons on the laptop that will switch the video over to the VGA output. i suggest tryin around 600X800 and see if it will show up. good luck
By default it goes to VGA port out of the DVR.
So you could hook up a pc monitor to it and use that. Once logged in you can change to tv out via the desktop menus.
It is also possible to hold down a button on the DVR (cannot remember which one sorry) at DVR power up to switch it to use tv out instead of vga.
You have to do the universal way which involves: 1) turn on tv and dvr 2) press tv button + select, hold till the io button stays lit (5seconds) 3) once io button is lit, press up and down channel buttons and flip through them until the tv turns off. 4) press mute, this should turn the tv on. 5) press tv button to save the settings (turn off tv)
