I'd say you have a contaminated or failing keypad or possibly residue on the boar dor where the keypad connects to the board.
Is it possible that some spray cleaner got into the controls?
I always recommend that users instead spray cleaner on a soft cloth then wipe the control panel.
Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.
Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.
If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.
The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

In order to have peace and quiet I have to unplug the microwave oven.If you can help please write back, Thanks.
Exactly the same problem. My microwave continues to beep and displays an F 2 error message. What should I do? Thank you!
The microwave beeps on its own then locks itself. Sometimes the F2 message is displayed. It's not frequent, but started this about a month ago.
I have the same problem - will look at the pad - just started today - I know I cleaned last nite with spray right on the pad - who knew - Lesson Learned.
This is a great site!! Thanks!
I have the exact same problem - Fault #2. I believe it's the control panel that's malfunctioning. I had to resort to unplugging the microwave also.
Our Kitchen Aid oven touch pad will intermitantly (two or three times a year) malfunction by going into LOCK MODE, become inoperable and BEEP.It will not unlock using the manuals instuction guide by pressing and holding the 0 pad for three seconds. If the 0 key pad is depressed for 20 or 30 seconds it will LOCK ALL key pad functions and flash a E-2 message. The only way to get it operable again is to unplug it for a few hours (overnight) and it will function again. I am now awaiting service from my exteneded warranty policy provider in hopes they will replace the complete touch pad assembley.Always assumed that Kitchen Aid was a superior product but that mith has been shattered.
