How do you get the filter out where the drain is in your hotpoint dishwasher?

Reset the power at the breaker, but you may need a new pump and motor assembly. The same pump washes and drains on most Hotpoint models- a solenoid is used to open a drain flap and let the water out, but a bad pump will equal no wash or drain... If kitchen side drains are clear then there might be some blockage in the pump system. Check the drain pump is working during drain cycle. If you can hear the pump but the water does not go away then you need to check filters at base of dishwasher. Beyond that you will have to open the pump assembly to look for debris.

You will need to provide the model number of the dishwasher. However, the likely causes of the lights flashing are many, including water inlet failure, blocked drain filter, leaking seals causing flood switch to trip. You may want to go to the Hotpoint site and find the manual for your model.

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. If it's still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. A3 error code in Hotpoint dishwasher could mean either the heat fuse has tripped or there is a blocakge in the drain and the drain pump has timed out.

Clean the drain and filter and then check. If this does not help then you will have to check the thermistor/ heater fuse.

There is no filter on your dishwasher . If you are having a problem with it not draining than you will have to remove the drain line from the bottom of the pump.After doing this remove the hard line with a set of pliers. inside the hard line you find a diaphragm which is probably clogged up with rice or corn, remove debris and resemble. Before doing this try and remove most of the water by hand or a shop vac works best.
