Probably one of the sensors on the fuser is not working correctly. There are two sensors on the back of the fuser that move when the paper exits the fuser. Remove the back of the printer when the printer says there is a jam and move the sensors to see if the error goes away. If so you may have to replace the fuser unless you can just replace the defective sensor.

Here's an article in the Lexmark website on Paper Jams and the Printer Displays a 'Check Duplex' or a '23x' Type Paper Jam Message: Lexmark T650, T652, T654, or X65x Series Printers. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/aqGjtK. Read the instructions thoroughly. Hope this helps but if you need more assistance, don't hesitate to contact Lexmark Technical Support. Thanks.

The duplexer, which flips the paper to automatically print on the back side, slides into the back of your printer. Unplug the printer and slide the duplexer out to check it for jammed sheets. You might have pulled out a sheet or two in the main printer section and left one in the duplexer.
As for the top tray, the paper feed wheels ride on the end of a long lever that drops down to rest on the paper. It should be held up out of the way by a spring until the drawer is inserted, but sometimes the plastic nub that the spring pulls on breaks off. Lexmark sells a little kit of the spring and "bellcrank" to fix it. If your paper tray holds 500 sheets - a whole **** - you need part no. 56P1331 "Parts packet, bellcrank and spring, 500 sheet." For 250-sheet trays the part number is 56P1337. A web search for either part number will find you a seller.
