Hello! The Breeze is equipped with a thermal protector that will cause the vacuum to automatically shut off when it is overheated. This is most likely caused by a clog or a filter that needs to be cleaned or replaced. When the thermal protector is activated the vacuum will need to cool down before it will power back on. This can take up to an hour. Try these quick steps below to prevent the vacuum from shutting off again.
1. Twist off the end to the lower hose that connects to the brushes.
2. Use a wooden spoon to gently looses and remove any blockages in the lower hose.
3. Remove the pleated filter from the dirt cup. Tap the filter firmly against a trash can until the dirt stops falling. The filter should be replaced every 6 months.
I have included a link where you may go to purchase the F1 filter for your vacuum. If you still have questions please feel free to reach out to us here on Fixya, Facebook.com/dirtdevil, or Twitter @DirtDevil. Thanks! F1 HEPA Filter

SOURCE: how to put the belt on the deit devil breeze
Here is a detailed discription on how to change your belt. Turn the machine compleatly upside down and place head on a flat surface. There are 4 screws to take out, then remove the base plate. Near the back of the channel the belt rides in you will see a stright silver shaft. Place the new belt over that shaft. The put the brush roller through the belt, so the belt is in the notched out section of the brush roller. Grab both ends of the brush roller and pull till the brush roller is back in it's origial spot on the base of the vacuum. Turn the brush roller 3 compleat turns backwards, then do the same forward to seat the belt. Put back on the base plate and put back the 4 screws. You are now ready to vacuum.
