SOURCE: Panasonic DMR- EA18 DVD player/recorder - Remote control Problem

I figured out, unlike all the other posts, you don't have an enter button. But Instead, you would hit the 2 and OK button at the same time for a few seconds. I had the RC1 message and I did the 1 with OK and it worked. so if you have RC2, you should hit the 2 and OK. Should work!!

SOURCE: remote not working

Your remote can control two different machines.Check the owner´s manual and find how to set it for DVD D1. Taking the batteries out of the remote for at least an hour might do the trick.

The remote just says set 2 and does nothing

Does the TV screen say Set 2 or the display area on the DVD recorder? The original remote for the DMR-ES35VS doesn't have a screen. (If you are using a universal remote, I'm not sure how to reset the unit.)

The Set 2 indicates that the unit was set to listen to a remote on the second wavelength available on these remotes. Your remote needs to be set to the same wavelength. Press and hold Enter and then press and hold 2 (for about 2 seconds) on the remote to set it to this option. Press Return to move back through the menu or exit the screen. (Panasonic provided this feature for those with several devices so that each remote wouldn't control a nearby device at that frequency.) To get the recorder to respond to the remote, they must be set to the same range. To check, press the Functions button. Under Other Functions > Setup > Remote Control Code, you can adjust the wavelength that the receiver is looking for. (Use the up/down arrows to select a sub-menu and the Enter key to enter the sub-menu. Use the left/right arrows to select options in the secondary menu.) If the unit doesn't respond, try a different wavelength. (Press and hold Enter and then press 1 or 3. There are only three possible options for the remote/receiver.)

For a screen capture of this, see page 19 of the manual; it is available from Panasonic here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES35V.pdf . An original remote is available from Remotes.com: http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=DMR-ES35VS&uuid=13262363222670 . It probably comes pre-programmed for Remote Code 1.

I hope this helps.

My panasonic dvd/vcr combo displays the message DV D 2 in the display. Cnnot play DVD

Sounds like your remote code is different to what's in the unit's display (DVD 2). You can try to 'reset' the remote, by pressing (and holding) 2 and ENTER/OK buttons together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. This should restore your remote function back to your unit. If it does not, replace the batteries with new ones, and try again.

The remote may require a 'reset' of its command mode (to match the unit) whenever the batteries are replaced.

I assume you can play DVD by pressing the PLAY button on the main unit.

When i press remote all I get is remote DVD 3 on display panel please help

The remote and the unit are using different command codes. You can try this:

Press and hold [ENTER] and the number 3 button together on remote (while pointed towards unit) for 10 seconds, then release. This should restore the remote command to your unit.

It might not help, but it's worth a shot.

My DMR-EH50 is stuck in SP mode and when I hit the button on the remote it keeps displaying CHK REMOTE 3. Would you know what is causing this. I cannot get the unit to do anything at all.

Very easy fix.

Your DVD recorder can be set up to accept remote contol signals on any one of three channels. Remote 1, Remote 2 or Remote 3.

Your remote can be set up to send signals on any of these channels. You need to make sure your recorder and remote are set to the same channel.

Your recorder is telling you that it is set to receive remote control signals on channel 3. This means your remote control is currently set for a different channel.

Assuming that you have a genuine Panasonic remote, do the following,

On your remote press the "Enter" button and hold it down. Then press the "3" button at the same time for two seconds, then release both. This will change your remote so it sends signals on Channel 3 which will match your recorder.

Those clever people at Panasonic realise that you will be delighted with their products and will probably have several of their appliances in use. The different channels avoids switching all your Panasonic gadgets at the same time. Clever huh?

Best wishes

We have a Panasonic DMR-EH50 DVD player/recorder. We recently moved house and following the move, the FUNCTIONS button on the remote no longer works. Everything else on the remote does. I've tried...

The message displayed means that the remote control and unit are not communicating and the remote needs to be programmed. To program the remote, press and hold the same number that is displaying on the unit and the [ENTER] or [OK] button for more than 2 seconds. For example, if the unit displays “SET 2”, press and hold [2] and [ENTER] or [OK] for more than 2 seconds.
