Thats why i like the little giant pumps they are put together with phillips screws not glued like them other guys , i do suggest that if you dissasemble pump and water has gotten inside , replace it not just seal it up and go , wont last long as that means the pump shaft seal has leaked , ther e has been a few folks that add dietary mineral oil to the inside , for use in very deep ponds (over 3 feet) they believe that helps keep the water out

SOURCE: I want to replace an impeller for a Little Giant submersible pump

This is a plastic impeller on a brass hub. If the impeller is loose it is probally cracked or overheated and melted, ether way you will have to break the impeller off of the hub then you will need to break hub loose from shaft. You can do this by putting pump in a vise and putting a pair of vice grips on hub and giveing them a sharp hit in a counter clockwise direction. you will need to replace the seal and impeller and should check to be sure than you can get these parts before you start.

WAS ACID WASHING POOL...LITTLE GIANT PUMP MODEL 8E-CIA-RFS STOPPED PUMPING...TRIPS GFI WHEN PLUGGED INTO OUTLET...TOOK OFF TOP OF UNIT...CAN SEE NO SIGNS OF SHORTING OUT...

With a megger or a decent multimeter you should be able to check the cord and motor for grounds. It is tripping a GFI though so testing at this point is redundant. The bad news is that a grounded submersible pump motor is never worth fixing. A new unit is about $200 and even a cheap shop at $50/hr would take at least a couple of hours to disassemble, clean and re-insulate the winding. That assumes re-insulating it will fix the ground which is often not the case. In short, your best bet for a unit that is no longer covered under warranty is to replace it once the electrical system goes to ground.

My little giant water pump model 4mdsc has three

Sounds like you may have a 220V pump. So you need to confirm that this is a 110V pump and not a 220V pump. There should be a label or more info on line with any other info on the label. If you can confirm that this is a 110V pump, then put a standard plug on the cord - the green is ground and the other two can be wired to either blade of the plug. If you do have a 220V pump and you connect it to 110V anyway, the pump will perform poorly and will probably overheat and fail.
