It might be that there is some corrosion on the leads that connect to the SIM card. You can try using a soft pencil eraser on the leads to see if you can clean them up, being careful not to get any debris from it in the phone to avoid any future strange complications.

The sim card holder has a tiny slide mechanism. After inserting the sim card and pressing it against the body of the phone, place your finger over the card and slide it gently forward. The tiny plastic part that holds the card will snap it into place. Hard to explain, but it will work.

Are you guys serious....

Verizon & Alltel (which happened to recently finalize the merge) use CDMA. CDMA does not use SIM cards.

AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. use SIM cards - wheter they are 3G networks, TDMA, etc.

I WAS TOLD BY MOTOROLA THAT THE V3M WOULD ONLY TAKE A 1 GB TRANSFLASH MEMORY CARD. I TO HAD A 4 GB MEMORY CARD AND IT WOULD ALWAYS SAY , CAN NOT FORMAT, TRY AGAIN? I BOUGHT THE 4GB AT THE STORE WHERE I GOT MY PHONE. I BOUGHT A 1 GB MEMORY CARD AND IT WORKS FINE NOW. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY SOLD ME A 4 GB IF IT WOULDN'T WORK WITH MY PHONE . HOPE THIS SOLVES YOUR PROBLEM IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY .....
