Can't get desktop mode to work on my asus transformer AiO P1801-B037K nothing but black screen when i try to switch to windows 8

When switching from tablet mode to dock or desktop mode I get a black screen. The hard drive light goes on but immediately goes out the disk drive works the rest of the lights go on you can hear and feel it on and when in tablet mode the Android system recognizes it being connected to the dock and that the dock and windows 8 are on are but you try to switch over and its black. I've tried everything suggested that i've been able to find about this problem. And nothing explains why some of these computers these have this problem what causes it all the websites just say if nothing works then send it back to Asus or the store and they'll send a new one which isn't helpful. Please help its driving me nuts and my house currently doesn't have internet plz keep that in mind.
