Samsung Home Theater Systems have a Dealer Lock or Tray Lock Function that prevents the disc tray from being opened.
There are four procedures for turning off the Dealer Lock function. Try one, then the other, to see which works on your system.
Unlocking Procedure 1 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press the Stop button on the front panel and the Power button on the remote control simultaneously for four seconds.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns the dealer lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 2 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press and hold the Function button on the front panel for 3 seconds. The display shows the word Unlock.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns the dealer lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 3 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press and hold the Open/Close button on the DVD player on the front panel for more than 4 seconds.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns Dealer Lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 4 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Using the HTS remote press the Menu button + 712, and the HTS will display CAN OPEN.
The Dealer Lock feature is mainly used by retailers to ensure that the display discs are not removed. However, parents of young children may find this feature very useful as well.

2. Close tray.
3. Switch Off Player and Unplug from mains wait 30 seconds (this clears RAM)
4. Reconnect to mains
5. Turn on player with remote.
6. Press ENTER on remote.
7. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9. Using keys on remote. If your player is already set to region 2
8. Press ENTER on remote. (The tray will open and player will power off and close tray.)
9. Switch on power from remote.

Samsung HT-DS610 says OPEN LOCK

I had this problem yesterday. After not finding a solution anywhere on the internet and nothing in the owner's manual. I remembered years ago that an inoperative TV came back to life by unplugging and then plugging back in....a TV repair tech suggested this and commented that this is functionally like a computer "restart".

Sure enough..................unplugging and then plugging back in fixed mine.

Samsung HT-DB120 DVD tray

I assume it DID work at one time. You need to take it apart and see how the tray is driven... belt or gear. If belt driven you could replace the belt.

Open disc tray

If there is Power, and yet the Tray is not opening, only 2 causes - either the drive Belt is broken, or the Drive motor IC is faulty.
