Good Afternoon Jodi,
I understand that you are wondering if you put detergent in your Frigidaire Affinity washer for the clean cycle. You do not put detergent in. You will want to take the detergent cup out and put a cup of bleach in there when you run the clean cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your washer status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.
-Best Regards-

IF there is an E attached to the 45, it is your control board and the control board would need to be replaced. This is per the "Washer Tech Data Sheet"Hope that helps...
SOURCE: frigidaire affinity front load washer doesn't start
mabye there is something keepin the door open, thats usually why most washers dont start
SOURCE: My Frigidaire Affinity front loader smells like mold
Ours gets a musty smell because water gets trapped in the air-tight drum. I leave the door open in order to let the water evaporate. Also, the owners manual tells you to remove and clean out the soap dispenser drawer and the area that the drawer fits into. We have to do this monthly, as both get coated with black mold.

There is an auxiliary switch in the door lock and switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle to advance to the spin cycle. When the machine works except advancing to the spin cycle, it signifies that this auxiliary switch cannot be activated and the door lock and switch assembly is faulty. Replaced the door lock and switch assembly (part #131763202) to fix the washer.
Disconnect power to the machine. Open the washer door then look for the retaining hoop securing the door seal around the lip of the door opening. Stretch the retainer spring of the door seal retaining hoop then remove it.
Carefully peel off part of the door seal from the lip of the door opening near the door lock and switch assembly. Remove enough of the door seal to gain access to the door lock and switch assembly.
Remove the screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel. Once the screws are removed, lift the door lock and switch assembly then pull it away from the front panel.
Take the door lock and switch assembly out of the machine. Disconnect the wires from its terminals then connect it to the new door lock and switch assembly.
Put the new door lock and switch assembly back into position in the front panel and secure it with the securing screws.
Properly put the eased part of the door seal back over the lip of the door opening then secure it with the retaining hoop.

There is an auxiliary switch in the door lock and switch assembly that
is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle.
This is a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during the spin cycle and the machine will not spin unless the switch is activated. The machine works except advancing to the spin cycle and this signifies
that the auxiliary switch cannot be activated and the door lock and
switch assembly is faulty. Replaced the door lock and switch assembly
(part #131763202) to address the issue.
Disconnect power to the
machine. Open the washer door then look for the retaining hoop securing
the door seal around the lip of the door opening. Stretch the retainer
spring of the door seal retaining hoop then remove it.
Carefully
peel off part of the door seal from the lip of the door opening near the
door lock and switch assembly. Remove enough of the door seal to gain
access to the door lock and switch assembly.
Remove the screws
securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel. Once the
screws are removed, lift the door lock and switch assembly then pull it
away from the front panel.
Take the door lock and switch assembly
out of the machine. Disconnect the electrical connections then
connect it to the new door lock and switch assembly.
Put the new
door lock and switch assembly back into position in the front panel and
secure it with the securing screws.
Properly put the eased part
of the door seal back over the lip of the door opening then secure it
with the retaining hoop.
Good Morning Amy - Often when a unit does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage hose/pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair the unit.
