It means that either you video or soundcard test failed, try going to the manufacturers website and update the latest drivers

SOURCE: PXE-E61: MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE

The PXE-X61 error means that the laptop cannot detect the hard drive. This can be caused by a faulty disk controller, or a faulty disk drive.
1st. Reseat the hard drive and see if the laptop boots up.

2nd. Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.

3rd. If the BIOS can't detect the hard disk, the remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer detects this drive as an external disk drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive, then the hard drive is OK and the fault is in the laptop.

4th. If the hard drive cannot be detected then the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace the faulty hard drive in your laptop and install Windows to get an operating laptop again.

PXE-E61 ERROR
The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

My emachine EL1352G-41W wont turn on?

Power supply is most likely your problem--many desktops with this issue have before it happens an issue where it has to be turned on several times and will finally come on and stay on.

The power supply in most cases is a unit that can be removed and tested (most shops charge little or nothing for this.)

If you are able to get it out look for bad filter caps on that board--some examples:

If puffy caps are found you have two choices---replace them all or if possible buy a generic power supply replacement............

Aspire 3682 PXE-E61:Media test failure.check

PXE error means that it is trying to boot from an ethernet / lan connection.

check your boot order options first and set it to boot
1. Hard drive
2. CD rom drive
3. Floppy (or usb if you know how to do this)
4. network(aka PXE)

If it still fails then yes there MAY be an issue with your hard drive.

Check all hard drive connections before running off for a new one.
This can be especially true with SATA type drives most of which dont have any sort of true locking device to hold the connections secure.

When turning my laptop on i get a message media test failure

You see this message when the laptop trying to boot from a remote server using the network card. If you didn’t see the PXE-E61 message before, it means that the network card was listed after the hard drive in the boot order (you can set the order in BIOS) and the laptop booted directly from the hard drive. Now, when the hard drive has failed, the laptop cannot detect it and tries to boot from the next available device – the network card. Your laptop is not configured to boot from a remote server using the network card, that’s why you are getting PXE-E61 Media test failure error. You have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
