SOURCE: Can't set up

Hello,
You can try the search method,
you do this by either holding down the device button eg: TV or if you have one the "magic" button for three seconds, a light should then flash twice to say you have done this correctly.
then press the keys 991 then the power button.
you must now press the channel up key (ch+) possibly upto 150 times while the remote cycles through every code.
Once your tv or device switches off stop pressing the ch+ key and press the power button to make sure it switches back on,
(if you press ch+ too many times you can go back by pressing ch-)
When complete press the magic or device key again to save the settings (light should flash twice to confirm)

Many thanks
Mark

SOURCE: setting low pass and bass eq

Hello, i have a hifonics brutus also, in the manual it states to set the eq at half way, so that there is no clipping or at least to prevent clipping , the eq will make the bass punchier, if you do go pass half way, i would recommend to readjust your gain settings, also check your head unit settings and make sure everything is flat, bass, mid bass etc. example i had my eq past half but i had my gain at mid way, it was hitting hard, then i tried turning the eq all the way down and the turning up the gain and the bass was smoother so it depends where you set it, and what settings you have on your head unit tone control (bass, treble etc)

SOURCE: Starview codes Dec 18th

I found a fix for Chorus Cork using my Starview The Box Super 3 !
(dated Dec 19,2008)

1. Upgrade your firmware using the GTROM v8.02e.
2. Change the codes using:
Chorus
00 - CE 19 2E 87 80 61 74 90
01- DD FA D9 F3 CE 05 FA 79
NTL
B0 B8 4F 04 E6 5F 87 80
A3 EB EC 07 D6 49 D2 EB

(How do you do this? Using your remote, click Menu, press 1570, press NagraVision, then change the codes using your remote as your keyboard with the buttons=characters/#s on the screen as guide). Then Exit.

3. Goto menu, select Insatallation, Select CHORUS, then select Automatic Scan. Once finish exit and check if channels are ok.

If the channels are still showing nothing..
3. Press Menu again. Choose factory settings, enter 0000 as code. then press OK to delete/reset.
4. when your back to the Menu, press 1570 then set EMU to On again. Exit.

That should work now. :) Happy Christmas everyone!!

Hi Joe, My name is also Joe and I just bought a Celestron AstroMaster 114 and need a hand with the elevation, inclination, declination settings(what should my gauges be set to) to star using the unit. Any...

Your DEC is the same as your Latitude--

Right Ascension does not matter for now. Polar Align the scope on the star Polaris-- read this:

http://arnholm.org/astro/polar_alignment/index.html

Once you are polar aligned, rotate the tube to a star in the sky that you KNOW the name of. Look up the Right Ascension of that star on a cell phone app or a laptop planetarium program like this one:
www.stellarium.org

Rotate the RA setting circle so it matches what the phone or laptop indicate. LOCK down the RA circle. Your scope is now adjusted to the sky and you can use the numbers on the DEC and RA to find other objects of known RA & DEC.

I have never had a telecope before and have purchased the Celestron 114EQ modelr n 31042 Im looking for step by step instructions on how to use it

Do you have a manual?

This is a small reflector style telescope on an equatorial mount-- the mount must be POLAR ALIGNED in orderr to be used properly. Guess you did not know that when you bought an EQUATORIAL mount.

Read this:
http://www.astronomy.net/articles/4/polaralign.html

Once the scope is polar aligned place the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. The moon should be your first target at night. the RA knob and the DEC knobs (slow motion controls) are used to keep the object centered in the eyepiece.

Download this free planetarium software --

Can you describe how to use RA and DEC to find objects. I can find the planets ect....

Once the scope is polar aligned move it to a named star that you can identify. Look up the RA and DEC for that NAMED star in any planetarium phone APP or a laptop running any planetarium software like the free software available at www.stellarium.org

Adjust the circles to MATCH the RA and DEC in the planetarium software, and lock them down.

Now you can use them to find other objects of known RA and DEC.

Our Celestron Power Seeker 114EQ fell over, now we are having difficulty seeing through it. Are the mirrors jostled, is there a way to fix this?

Most likely-- watch this video to learn how to collimate your scope.
http://www.andysshotglass.com/Collimating.html

Also look inside the tube and see if the secondary mirror under the focuser came loose.

Having a clear sky last night i took my new scope out and started to view the night sky, but focusing on a star ! i found that when viewing it at magnification a could clearly see the the area infront of...

Stars are ALWAYS pinpoints of light when the scope is focused no matter how much magnification is applied.

You are NOT focused properly -- when you are you cannot see the secondary mirror or the "spider" bracket that holds the mirror.

You will NEVER see a star as a disk, only as a pinpoint light. If you are seeing what looks like a donut with a dark center you are not focused.

Celestron 114EQ polar setting and Equatorial settings

The ALTITUDE adjustment matches your LATITUDE. I live at 32.5 degrees North latitude. So the scope is first adjusted to 32.5 degrees UP.

Then the Right Ascension is point to Polaris the North star by MOVING the entire scope and mount.

Read my Equatorial mount TIP on my profile page, and read this web site.
