Built in flash clicks but wont engage on canon xti

Usually caused by sticky liquid spillage around the pivots of the flash or impact. If liquid, manually pull up on the flash when it clicks to free the flash, and then remove the three screws holding the flash cover. On the right side is a spring with a screw inside it. Carefully remove the screw and check for rust. You can scrape off the rust with an Xacto knife and then clean the hole with a Qtip with Windex, then put some grease or Vaseline on the screw and see if the flash moves smoothly. Also clean off the flash and base with the Qtip and Windex to get rid of any sticky liquid.

Be very very careful! There is 300 volts across the flash tube!!! Do not touch the flash tube where the wires are soldered to it!!!!!

Sd880 is, smoke coming from flash

You probably have a bad capacitor that leaked onto the flash tube. When the flash tube fires, the heat generated creates smoke on the surface of the tube. You must service the camera immediateley. Call 718-268-6440 mon - sat 10am - 6pm

The built-in flash on my Canon Powershot pro1 is not firing. The settings are correct and I can hear it cycle, it just won't flash. The pin on the hot shoe is functioning properly.

In that case, either the trigger circuit has partially failed or (far more likely) the xenon flash tube has blown.

Either way the camera needs to go to an authorised Canon service outlet for diagnosis and repair. Or you could just put the repair costs towards a far more useful external flash unit.

I hope that this has helped and that you kindly remember to rate my answer.
