My keyboard light turns off. How can I get it to stay on?

When I start up the light comes on but once the laptop boots up, my keyboard light turns off. I have tried Fn+f12 or f3. I looked around my settings and control panel, but nothing applied. When my laptop was newer the keyboard light came on and stayed on. I have had this laptop for a year.

SOURCE: IBM Thinkpad T30 wont boot up

You have faulty RAM modules. Reseat your RAM modules, to make sure they make proper connection. If this doesn't work take them to your friendly computer shop and ask them to test them for you.

I force removd keyboard witht shutting down the PC n the laptop shutdown. Since then screen only shows a milli-seconds deem light. DVD rom light blinking. Fan not turning, only a blinkin green light.

This is a very common problem with windows laptops. This may or may not help but here goes. unplug power. then unplug battery from laptop. Now plug only power cord into laptop. Now turn on and start tapping the F2 fuction key. Once it goes into bios make sure that your boot order is cdrom first. Then save it and reboot with the bootable cd in the drive.

Also if now of this works unplugged Hard drive and see if it will boot up at all and into the bios setting. If you are not able to boot into the cmos make sure also that no cd is in the cdrom drive.

Take your time. Good Luck.

The laptop stays on for few minutes and then it turns itself off but before it does that, it shows a large blue scree and some large white text, the text flicks a little but fast to the point where I can...

First of all Turn of your laptop.
Now this time when you turn on your laptop start tapping F8 Key on you keyboard when you Toshiba logo. Tap F8 key for at least 5-6 times.
You will get a Windows Advance Option Menu. You will see lot of options over their written in white text. Your mouse will not work on this screen. Use UP and DOWN arrow keys on you keyboard and highlight Last known good configuration. Once highlighted press enter on it. See if you computer boots. If it boots try doing a restore.
If it doesn't boot.
Turn off your computer and then turn on your computer. On Toshiba Logo screen tap F8 key once again and go to windows advanced option menu screen once again and this time hightlight Disable automatic restart on system failure. Now when you see Blue screen coming up on your computer once again your computer won't restart. Now you can write down the information to trace out the blue screen that is occurring on your computer. Write down the Error code which will be in form of STOP 0x000000XX, you find this error code somewhere at the bottom of the blue screen.
Once you get the reply here, we will see what we can do.

BACKLITE WON'T STAY ON

You can only change the back light level in the BIOS. Boot the computer and press F2 immediately. Once you are in the BIOS, set the back light level you want, then save and exit. When the computer comes back up, that will be your back light level.

What is the default password bios of the HP

Hi,

There is not default password as such but it comes up only when it is created. In order to get rid of the password we need to boot the computer to the BIOS .
Turn the notebook off and then when you turn it on or lets say as soon as you press the power button to turn it on start tapping the f10 key on the keyboard repeatedly till you get a screen that says BIOS SETUP UTILITY ,once you are on that screen press the f5 key on the keyboard it displays a mesage that says load default, press y for yes on the keyboard and then press f10 that displays a message which reads save and exit again pres y for yes and the computer restarts .Once it boots up should not for the bios password.

hope this helps you ...all the best

Have a Eee PC 701 SD. I can turn on the laptop but once it's on nothing is displaying on the screen. I tried every button possible but nothing works.

Its possible that the LED light that illuminates the screen is dead. If you look very closely can you make out any information on the screen or is it absolutely black? If you can see text or Windows, then its likely the backlight.

If you cant, try plugging an external monitor in to see if it is even booting. Also look at the HDD light (bottom right of the keyboard) to see if it flickers on and off while starting. If there are no lights, then you may have a dead unit... Get er fixed.

IBM T 42 - Not starting

If the laptop is not even getting to boot the hard drive, then their may be a problem some where on the motherboard and it may need to be replaced. Before replacing the motherboard, there are a few things you can try. 1) If you have extra memory, try swapping in new memory and see if the laptop boots then. 2) Try disconnecting all peripherals and add-ons and see if the laptop boots then.
