Why can't my Panasonic DVD recorder read my portable harddrive? I want the DVD record to read the harddrive?

How do I get my Panasonic DVD Recorder (model DMRXW350) to read the USB Seagate Slim Portable Drive (500GB)(model SRD00F1)? I get an error message - This USB device is incompatible with this unit. Please insert a valid USB device. Why can't the DVD recorder read the harddrive? Do i need to reset my dvd recorder factory setting?

Hi anonymous, it may well be that you need to change settings on your DVD Recorder and/or on your TV. On my LG 42" TV I need to select the input mode ie. Movie, USB, music etc, as necessary. Maybe your DVD Recorder or TV can't handle the file format on you Portable Drive, check the manufacturer specs.

SOURCE: Panasonic DMR- EA18 DVD player/recorder - Remote control Problem

I figured out, unlike all the other posts, you don't have an enter button. But Instead, you would hit the 2 and OK button at the same time for a few seconds. I had the RC1 message and I did the 1 with OK and it worked. so if you have RC2, you should hit the 2 and OK. Should work!!

Your player and recorder are, most likely, on different codes. Press and hold ENTER and 2 on the remote for at least two seconds and you should be home and dry!

Good luck!

SOURCE: DVD Code Problem No FVU

You need to install or update the Firmware. Go to www.panasonic.ca and search your model. You will then need to download the firmware for your player and burn it/mount it as an ISO file on to cd. Just follow the instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

It took me about 25min, but it is working fine now.

The panasonic dmr e55 will burn a disc from my video camera and play on the dvd player but no other dvd player. and i read all the instructions step for step

Have you finalized the disk after recording? Are you using DVD-R disks? Also, I can replay my recorded DVRs on my portable DVD player, but not on a TV with a built-in DVD player. That one is just to finicky.

Since it went into "disk recovery mode" it now will not play dvds

Got the same problem. Happened 2 months after guarantee expired. **** machine. The only good thing is the harddrive and that is made by HITACHI not Panasonic! I go Sony next time. Panasonic quoted £200 plus to fix the problem. I only paid £220 when I bought it new.

Panasonic dvd recorder wont record or play

It is also possible that you are trying to record using an already used -R or an unformatted RAM disk.

Dvd recorder can't read disc it previously read

Take the Disc out and put it aside. You must clean the Laser Eye, and clean dust and other matter from inside your recorder. Clean Eye with rubbibg alcohol and q-tip. A regular CD/DVD cleaner disc will not work. After cleaning, reinsert your Disc and Finalize it.
