Not a difficult job, but difficult to outline without photo/video aid.

Short list, using compressed air, blow out all of the junk that has collected under the intake muffler, then remove the muffler from the throttle body and airbox There are two large hoses, plus two small hoses, one on the rear (crankcase vent) and one in front. There is also a wire harness on the rear that needs to be separated.

Once removed, make sure the top of the cam cover is clean, unplug the wiring harness from the coil packs, remove the bolts (10mm socket), and pull the coil packs from the plugs. The rear plug is a bit of a pain because of the wiring harnesses, but you can carefully separate them and move them out of the way.

The Tacoma 2.7 uses Iridium plugs. Stick with the OEM Denso plugs, don\'t fall for the snake oil salesmen pushing 4 electrode or special "hot spark" designs.

How do i preform a Distributor resistance check / ignition coil resistance check.. on 1996 toyota tacoma 4x4 2.7 liter 4 cyl. engine truck is getting fire/fuel no start.

An engine needs 3 things to run, Spark, Fuel, & Compression. If you have verified that you have spark at the plugs, and fuel is making it into the cylinder, and the engine has the proper amount of compression to run... these also have to happen in the correct time. Make sure your timing marks all line up.

02 Toyota Tacoma when engine warms up cylinder 3 has a misfire po303

check spark plug of the cyl. switch plug with another cyl, run engine until warm to see if misfire still comes on. if it stays on the same cyl. fault could be high tension wire or coil or worse leaky valve or rings. if misfire switched to the other cyl just change plug or better replace all plugs

Cant find the spark plug location on 2002 4cyl tacoma

Locate the spark plug cover on the engine. On some Toyota Tacoma engines, the cover is across the top of the engine. On others, it is along the side 4 cyl. Remove the cover to reveal the ignition coils and spark plugs wires. The spark plug wires are plugged directly into the engine and the ignition coils are in the tip of the spark plug wire.
Remove the coil and wire from the spark plug. Twist and pull the plug out of the engine. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder well with a socket extender and socket wrench. Turn the wrench to the left to unscrew the spark plug from the engine.

Discard the old spark plug and apply a coat of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug.

Insert the new spark plug into the socket. Use the socket and extension to screw the spark plug into place.

Return the ignition coils and spark plug wires to the engine and turn it to lock the plug in place. Repeat the entire the process with the remaining spark plugs.

Replace the spark plug cover when all of the spark plugs are replaced.

Good luck and hope this helps and The spark plug tension may range between 11 and 15 foot pounds, depending on the size of the spark plug. The correct tension is indicated on the spark plug's packaging.

#4 cyl misfires/code 304

P-0304 indicates number 4 cylinder misfire. Are you using Toyota parts dept spark plugs? More often than not, non-toyota plugs make the v-6s run poor, right out of the box....
Try this:With the engine running, pull the connector wire off of the #4 injector. Note to see if there is any change with the idle quality. No change? You may have a bad injector.
